Just a quick note about the HDR mode on this monitor. This is from their website: (Through a combination of advanced algorithmic functions, the HDR Mode essentially transforms non-HDR content into HDR-like visuals via 3 different modes. By enhancing RGBCMY color for more vivid images (via improved saturation and range), increasing dynamic contrast for clarity and image sharpness, the HDR mode ensures you.) This is not a true HDR monitor. It just mimics the feel of it, or like most cheap, entry-level monitors, they just slap the HDR marketing carelessly. Also, at this price point, you can’t really expect for it to be HDR certified. Stay safe, everyone!

@@giemellsantos680 Hey! I know the question's for Charles, but I actually just got the monitor. It's so worth it! The build quality and colors are so good. Just have to calibrate it a little bit. As for the 27UL850-W, that's actually what I have at the office! It's definitely the better choice if budget is not an issue, but only cos LG has more market experience with 4K screens. But otherwise, the U28P2U is well worth the money. Hope this helps!
@giemellsantos6803 жыл бұрын
@@madoarceo Oh wow! Guess I picked the right comment to reply to. Few questions. I have no prior experience with calibrating monitors, is it hard to do for the AOC? I heard that you could download ICC profiles for specific monitors but I'm not sure with the U28P2U cause it's relatively an unpopular monitor. Does the LG monitor come out of the box calibrated? Do you not need to calibrate it to get accurate colors? Although I'm willing to spend more for the 27UL850-W, I just can't shake the significant price difference between the two. I'd be thrilled tbh if I could save ~10k pesos if the U28P2U proves itself to be a great alternative. Plus, the larger screen would be very much welcome. 😅

@CharlesDuante3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have had no issues with this monitor so far. The display is great! Since this is a 4K monitor, you can scale it to mimic a lower resolution with a higher DPI which means you'll get sharper texts and images. I initially planned on getting the Samsung UR55 just because of its brand, but being the back of it is curved, I can't mount my USB hub onto it. Then I opted to get this instead. I've heard about AOC before, and I think it's okay, but we'll have to see if it lasts. The extra functionalities it has over the Samsung UR55 made me choose this 4K monitor from AOC. 😸

Hi Charles! Are the fonts displayed smooth like the ones in Macbooks? There were some hi-res monitors that have blurry fonts despite maximum font smoothing on the macbook settings.
@CharlesDuante3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I think that the texts and images displayed on the Retina MacBooks are way smoother and better is because they have a higher ppi. Compared to the Retina MacBooks that have at least 220 ppi, this 27inch 4K monitor from AOC has 157ppi. You can scale down the display settings on the 4K monitor to 1440p or for much sharper text and images, scale it to 1080p. That way it mimics the Retina display on the Macs. Because the more pixels packed in a smaller screen, the sharper and clearer the image/text gets. Hope this helps!

Hi. Thanks for the unboxing and the quick overview. I recently got the same monitor and I have observed 2 quirks that I'd like to check with you and other U28P2U users: (1) When using PIP/PBP, it doesn't allow me to choose both HDMIs for the main and sub source. Has any one had any luck with this or is this setup really impossible? Does it only support DP + HDMI? (2) Only HDMI2 appears to support wake from sleep @ 60Hz refresh rate. When my laptop is connected to HDMI1 and powers back up from sleep, the monitor doesn't automatically detect the signal if refresh rate is set to 60Hz. I'd have to manually turn on the monitor again / select the input for the signal to be detected. Another route is to reduce the source refresh rate to 30Hz for the wake from sleep to function. Is this normal? Anyone had the same experience? Thanks in advance for any insights.

2 is same for me, (and for hdm2 too) but only on ubuntu system, windows works perfectly. Need to try with DP cabel

@@severincsgo A pity that it doesn't work as it should with Ubuntu. Might be the drivers? At least both ports are working well on Windows. Have you tried using the PIP/PBP with HDMI 1 and 2 as main and subsource? I assumed that it was possible as other monitors with multiple HDMIs with PIP/PBP permitted this. Unfortunately, the AOC manual does not contain any info re: input/port compatibility for PIP/PBP so this one is hard to verify and I'd have to rely on the account of other users.

@@CS-zt8lk No, i dont try it. Drivers (both nouveau and nvidia) did not solve the problem. Different kernel versions, desktop environments etc did not solve the problem. Still need to try dp cabel

Do you really know what you are talking about? HDR at 300 nits? Sheesh

Hi, I wasn’t able to discuss that feature well, but if you pause the screen recording. You’ll see that this is not a true HDR monitor. It just mimics the feel of it, or like most cheap, entry-level monitors, they just slap that HDR marketing carelessly. And at this price point, you can’t really expect for it to be HDR certified.

I heard it has speakers but they are pretty low quality.
