i bought this monitor and im going to compare it to my oled AG276QZD, maybe im crazy but I feel this could replace my OLED. I found my oled brightness a bit disappoint and the burn-in has growt to big conrecn for me, since my oled has already slight burn in from game HUD after 500h. In my experience slight black smearing isnt problem for me because that Strong OD mode looks acceptable for me and usually with VA panels you can improve it further by lowering gamma. Im I crazy? I just return it if i dont like it. I like how VA panels looks in general

This Q27G3XMN looks very nice even without local dimming, thats because backlight is shining directly from behind? It looks super nice, and I can play competitive games OD strong easily. Much better contrast that typical LCD IPS and no IPS glow, perfect! Edit. I took tft central icc profile and settings which are panel native calibrated to srgb an did change gamma3 (higher gamma) and increased the brightness for my taste, excellent

Thank you for the review and the various settings. I recently bought this magnificent monitor, after calibrating it to perfection I was going crazy because I saw horizontal lines on a blue background or when you highlight a text. The problem was caused by the ''lag input low'' osd option enabled.

Using this with DisplayHDR, medium local dimming, and on W1 (calibrated with the hdr app on the store). Black levels seem crushed as hell, I was watching Edge of Tomorrow HDR and in some of the dark scenes towards the end were just impossible to discern what was going on whereas it wasn't like that without HDR. The same thing happens to me . I see it much better by simply turning the brightness up to 100 and Local Dimming to strong, with HDR turned off. If I turn HDR on, everything looks more grayish/foggy.

@@GottaEvil I found that HDR seems to look perfect if I don't enable HDR in Windows and let my video player (MPV) activate HDR on the monitor when opening HDR video files. Windows will be very dim, but movies look right. If I turn on HDR in Windows and make the appropriate adjustments, dark content made for HDR is too dark. Really peculiar.

My OSB buttons have to be pressed little bit longer than normally to register the press. Not sure if it is meant to be like that but I see you can click osd buttons fast and it still register the presses. I thought it must be something to do hardware module spanning hz, maybw polling rate is something like 10hz for the buttons.

After that, I was searching good settings for the monitor and stumbled upon this video. I also realized his menu was way faster than mine and thought my unit might have a defect. Hi! Underrated channel and review, thanks. I just bought this monitor, and I think I have a working sRGB emulation mode. The colors look properly muted and how its supposed to be. However, now the entire monitor have this kind of "grey fog" over it. Comparing it to my laptop screen and my oled TV, it doesnt look like that is supposed to look like that. Any tips on how to get rid of it? Either tuning some option while in sRGB mode, or changing to panel native? I am not a fan of oversaturated colors though, which is why I would prefer sRGB.

Are you sure you don't have HDR active on your system and are viewing SDR content? Could be some other setting that was activated without you realising, if not. If in doubt do a factory reset of the monitor in the OSD.

@@PCMonitors Thanks for the answer! I dont have HDR enabled. And all the other settings are default, other than sGRB being enabled and having brightness at 25. So it seems what I'm seeing is not expected? I should clarify the "grey-fog" is not as bad as the case you describe as when having HDR active, but it is there, and it is distracting. Maybe a bad unit? How would I know if what I'm seeing is indeed "bad"? Is it possible it is the amount of red in the default warm color settings thats causing it? Since having your user color settings (at panel native), does not have the weird "grey fog".

I'd recommend trying an alternative method of sRGB emulation and avoiding using the setting on the monitor. Could be badly calibrated on your unit - pcmonitors.info/articles/taming-the-wide-gamut-using-srgb-emulation/.

Worth watching the colour reproduction section of the review, but yes they cause oversaturation because the full native gamut of the monitor it used. It's very much down to personal preferences whether you prefer that representation or stricter sRGB.

That's primarily because of the position of the camera. If you adjust your own viewing position and sit further from the screen this effect should also diminish. There can be additional luminance uniformity issues at play, which vary between individual units.

I bought this monitor! I turned on the HDR mode in the Windows 11 settings. The screen began to give off a gray-green tint.. when I went to KZbin and turned on HDR videos - my delight knew no bounds.. this is something! .. I used it for a few days and decided to download several films to my PC.. after downloading 3-4 films, I discovered that the colors in HDR mode are faded and give off a green tint and are also very dark.. after installing a third-party player, the situation was not resolved. What am I doing wrong? Why is everything fine on KZbin and in games, but on the desktop and in HDR videos on the PC (from any player) it is very dark, colorless and a little greenish. For several days now I have been trying to play with the player settings, NVIDIA drivers and the standard Windows settings. p.s. - movies in SDR mode look very oversaturated and bright.. display port cable, fresh drivers hheelp pleasee

That isn't a monitor issue, it's an issue with the movie files as it doesn't sound like they're HDR (or being played in HDR).

@PCMonitors but I download movies ranging in size from 7 to 70GB with the name Speak.No.Evil.2024.x265.WEB-DL.2160p.HDR-DV(as example) - all with HDR .. as well as demo videos and they also do not show colors and brights If you have a file as an example of an HDR video - I can view it and say whether it works or not and also send you a photo with the view as I see it. I got the impression that he doesn't understand that this is HDR content. Switching the color profile to 4.4.4 from this 4.2.2 in NVIDIA doesn't change anything.

You should approach the source of the content or the software you're using (check if they have a support forum) and see what others say about it. The only theory I can share is that "DV" in the file name may mean "Dolby Vision", so you might be dealing with files of the incorrect format. This monitor (and the vast majority of others) only support HDR10 content, not Dolby Vision content.

I can't, because it shouldn't and didn't on my unit. Well it was slightly warm I guess, ~6000K but your eyes should adjust to that pretty readily. So maybe there's a calibration issue on yours where it's even warmer or perhsaps you're used to a significantly cooler SDR colour temperature than 6500K. At any case you should give your eyes good time to adjust, you can't adjust the colour channels under HDR to compensate.

@@Goldthius I know this is an old comment, but I just got this monitor and had the same issue. But if you are running Windows 10, there is a SDR correction factor under the HD color settings. You go to display settings, and above the HDR on/off toggle, there is a "Windows HD color settings". If you go there, there is an SDR to HDR color balance slider. That should reduce the over saturation and make things slightly less bright for Windows and non-SDR games, without losing the ability to use HDR for games and programs that support it.

Hello. This is my first monitor that supports HDR and local dimming. I'm confused as to how things work. I want to play games that use SDR as well as games that support HDR. Do I have to go into windows 11 display settings and turn on the USE HDR button? Do I have to manually turn on HDR in the monitor settings every time I want to play a game that supports HDR or will it auto select depending on the game? I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me, even if it is pointing me to another youtube video that explains all of this. Thanks!

First of all you should calibrate the monitor in HDR mode with the ''windows HDR calibration'' app, after that I recommend that you load an ICC profile to use it in SDR mode. You can now toggle between HDR/SDR with Win+Alt+B

It could simply be that you're used to the oversaturated SDR representation. HDR is more toned down, per the review. You could try boosting Nvidia Digital Vibrance a bit if you want.

Why is game mode set to off? My PS5 doesn't recognize VRR and that's one of the reasons I bought this monitor. I've heard that turning it on might make the PS5 recognize VRR compatibility...?

'Game Mode' is a set of (generally poor) presets, as covered in the video. Probably greyed out because you're using HDR. The PS5 doesn't "recognize VRR" because the monitor doesn't have HDMI 2.1 and the PS5 doesn't support Adaptive-Sync, which the monitor uses exclusively for VRR.

I think you're referring to running HDR in an SDR environment, which I don't recommend in general. But if you need to do that or want to do that then it's entirely down to your personal preference. But remember that's a digital brightness slider and adjustments can negatively affect contrast.

No, that's due to how it's calibrated not the cable. The colour temperature of my unit was ~6000K (a bit warm) under HDR. As for the "more color" under SDR, that's because things are oversaturated as covered in the review.

The monitor doesn't use PMM - would've been mentioned if used, but like with most monitors now it uses DC dimming. It might use very high frequency low amplitude oscillation, but that's not the same as PWM at all and shouldn't cause issues even if you're sensitive to PWM.

@user-ln1yg1ie7l The matte surfaces you're used to are stronger, likely 'medium' (or 'light'). There are advantages to a lighter matte surface as well, as covered in the review. I'd suggest seeing if you can adjust your lighting environment if you have light striking the screen directly. Regardless of screen surface, it's best to try to avoid this as you're either going to have reflections, sharper glare patches or diffused light competing with the image.

This is covered in the review. You can't "solve this" except by stabilising frame rate or disabling VRR. It's an inherent limitation of the panel used. You may be able to offset it by reducing brightness as much as possible and adjusting room lighting so it's less noticeable.

@@PCMonitors Thanks, unfortunately frame rate was as stable as it gets with smooth frame timing but the flickers were still there. I guess no G-sync then. Interesting I heard even OLED monitors suffer from this which go for several times the price that of the AOC. Panel is great but G-sync without flickers should be an option even on a low end monitor let alone a mid range one.

@@Szabjack In certain FPS ranges even very small fluctuations can cause flickering on VA models like this, unfortunately. Or, potentially, even if it sits at a certain frame rate which it "doesn't like". It's less noticeable on OLED models as it is only triggered in an obvious way with larger fluctuations and is only visible for darker and medium-dark shades. But it is indeed a key issue which I'd like to see solved.
