Hey! Don't know if you know this or not, but according to the features list, you have the option to use softwere made for the monitor that lets you control the osd for the monitor, via your mouse, so no crappy monitor buttons needed! it's called "i-menu".

I have this screen right now on my hackintosh, all I can say is that it's fkin incredible to have a price that low, the quality of that screen is just insane, I'm running it in 4k on my computer and I tried it with my ps4 in 4k too, it's just so perfect!! I'm a graphic designer so I tried to calibrate it, and the colors are already super accurate, it's insane!

@@monsterwatte6550 It depends of what you’re searching for, you can’t have HDR with this monitor and if you play in a bright room you’re gonna feel like the monitor is too dark, there’s literally no input lag though, I thought it was an amazing monitor until I got so much better

Hey, man! I've now got a GTX 1080, a 4K monitor, and two "1080p" monitors (one is 16:10 1200p, but close enough), and I'm considering getting two of these as my side monitors. I'm not quite sure about it, but it would allow me to use my 1080p monitor for my secondary PC if I actually get around to building it.

***** At 1st i was displeased because i was expecting it to be a HUGE change... but its not, yes it definitely looks much nicer but not to the amount that its anything to go crazy over, but if you have a PC that can handle the newest games at 4K then i would say its worth it as I'm a graphics whore haha, but if you prefer FPS over graphics and clearness then get a 1440p 144HZ monitor instead, but i would rather have this as when I'm playing a game i had got so used to 4K that if it put it down to even 1440p it looks noticeably blurry

This monitor has 2.0. I bought this and a acer which was a bit more expensive and the Acer does not have 2.0! Needless to say I'm enjoying this with the Xbox one x. Definitely recommend turning down the brightness and putting the contrast up.

Have you looked into a VESA mount for this monitor, I've looked around but couldn't find one for this model. I'm looking at getting a couple of these but I'd like to VESA mount them to keep with little desktop space I have.

If you're into DIY you can build a VESA mount pretty easily out of wood or metal. The built-in stand unbolts on the inside. I posted a video of my experience.

You won't be gaming at 4K on your 980 I'm afraid! A 1440p display would probably be good for you though.

depends on your budget really, there are some great 144Hz ones like Acer and Asus gaming ones but are fairly costly. I actually can't think of many 1440p 60Hz monitors off the top of my head.

When it works, i'ts great, none of those stupid bells and whistles you don't need. But loads of people complain about the odd dead pixel. I don't care about that, but it can be a bit dodgy. There's been several times windows has reported an error, and it's gone into 1080. Worst of all, it's shown a bad picture a few times. I lowered the resolution, then put it back up and it it was ok. the bad picture was coming from the DP connector (which was supplied), but the other outputs were ok. Most of the time it's fine.

thanks for a great professional review.. i am thinking of getting this monitor to do video editing and some light gaming (GTA V, Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 4, Witcher 3). and thats why you stick to 1080p or 1440p for the next 2-3 years. save your money till then, and with your saved money you ll be able to by a 4K monitor (as it will become cheaper), and a good card for 4K and 60 fps, as the cards now struggle with 60 fps. but that will be gone in 2-3 years when 4K is mainstream gaming resolution by then. just my 2 cents on it.

+Christopher Wrasse no. Well it will work but not at 4k and there is only 1 hdmi port so you'd have to switch out the cable every time you want to use something different.

Right, Xbox One is only 1080 but just wanted to be sure that it would play on this monitor. I can get creative with the other available ports to make things work. I think it has a DVI port so I can do that to HDMI cable to plug into my MacBook Pro or DVI to Adapter (DVI-MDP). And I can then do a Display Port to HDMI to also get a 3rd connected device. This way I don't have to unplug when wanting another device.

Hey I have a question, so I am currently using a DisplayPort cable for my PC and getting 144Hz, I am thinking about getting a second 144Hz monitor which would then use the DisplayPort, my graphics card only has 1 DisplayPort output (and 1 HDMI output) to get both my monitors running at 144Hz is it as simple as plugging one in via a HDMI 2.0 cable or do I have to check the compatibilities with my graphics card monitors etc Thank you so much for your help

I've seen this exact same model (U2879VF) referred to as FreeSync *and* Adaptive Sync.. Which is it? Also it's not *true* 10-bit as the last two bits are done via PWM AFAIK.

+Game On Marra freesync is a type of adaptive sync, I tested it with an rx480 and worked fine.

No, Nvidia only support their proprietary GSYNC tech so no it won't work. It's Freesync which at this point is only supported by AMD GPUs.

Martin Korwald It should have little effect because resolution has little to do with content creation. A 720p monitor can be used to create 8k videos if you have good specs.

I have a 1070 card, will the screen still work at 60hz 4k? since I dont have a amd card, and cant benefit from the freesync technology, will there be screen tearing or not? if I play with vsync on locking the frames to 60 Im ok? if vsync is turned off, lets say I get 100fps and the screen starts tearing up because this is a 75hz screen? how did ur gtx 980 handle 4k? It'll work, but for gaming you'll want to drop the settings a little to mid-high settings. You will have tearing yes, because Vsync doesn't actually fix this issue is, since the frame timings doesn't always match up.

Assuming you have the 'S', yes. You will only be able to play movies at 4K 30FPS though, no games as they are still only 1080p 30FPS at best.

As the display is only 60hz the screen cannot update any faster than 60 times a second, so the 87FPS is pretty much the same experience as 60FPS, not sure why so many people miss this fact, 2160P is a poor resolution choice for gaming atm.

While overall I'd agree 4K isn't the best gaming resolution at the moment, the logic doesn't make sense to me. Yes, 87FPS on a 60Hz display is effectively the same thing (assuming you had Freesync and Vsync on), if you have a GPU that can push 87 FPS at 4K, you are gonna have a great time. Sure you could get a 1440p 144Hz display but if you also do productivity stuff like video editing, 4K is pretty awesome. Personally for the last 3-4 months I've been gaming on a 4K & a 144Hz 1080p monitor and it's been great. Racing games are great at 4K, FPS games are great at 144Hz.

I believe it's 8 bit with the last 2 done via PWM, results are not noticeably different from true 10 bit for me personally.

Brian Simon It's ok I picked up a Asus 25" 1440p Ips monitor for $280. Even If that monitor was on sale for $300 their would still be tax. So probably like $330. If it was slightly cheaper I would have bought it. Thanks though.

I got mine from Best Buy as well during the Memorial Day sale for $279. I think it's a great monitor for the price. I can't use the freesync option though because I have a GTX1080 graphics card. Still pretty awesome though.
