Extremely recognizable!! My biggest surprise when I started working in UX research is that the biggest challenge for me was not in conducting the research itself, but with socializing research and stakeholder management.

Hi Aona! Thank you for the insights! I currently work as an analyst on HR based company and my manager intend to shift my career as a UXR. As an analyst, initiatively, I stated to do something that my company don't like empathize the user also gather their feedback and bring to the table to saying something like "this is what our users think n feel about our product" Maybe that's one of the reason my manager want me to shift my career into UXR (the convo begin since 23rd December last year btw) and i started to learn and explore a lot of things to start my new path as UXR. Your channel means a lot for me, thank you for being my virtual mentor!

Thanks for the insight. I do agree that working with the stakeholders throughout the research process will make them more readily available when comes to adaptation.

This is a great video series 👏Thanks for your inputs! Qq: How do you manage surviving through these recurring 1:1s? How to overcome that 'overwhelming' feeling when you have a lot of meetings?

be honest. speak up. compromise. Your needs are just as important as the other in the "1-2-1" relationship, otherwise it might be called a "1". Overwhelming feelings are usually a sign that you can ignore only for so long. Become comfortable with the uncomfortableness by immersing yourself in those training spaces...or real world scenarios. Is surviving the only option? Have you tried the 5-4-3-2-1 technique for managing the feelings mentioned? Take a tiny step towards normality (whatever that strange concept is) by making a tiny change - going on your choice of words, you seem to want to avoid confrontation? - in a different direction. *I know you didn't ask me directly, I hope you don't mind and I hope iv'e understood you correctly? - Snr UR fintech, 14 years in management.

Love these tips Aona! Do you have 1:1 check-ins with stakeholders you regularly work with even if you don't have an active project with them right now, or do you only check in with the ones you are actively working on a specific project with currently? Not sure if that question makes sense, I work in a much smaller company so my pool of stakeholders is also small.

It does - I do both. For those I don't share direct ongoing project with (but might have in the future), it's much infrequent e.g. 30mins every month.

Catching up with this video that I missed and have some questions for you! What are some workshops/jamming sessions that researchers could initiate? How about once that should be designer-initiated? I've noticed that in my past company, most design/research activities like persona workshop, empathy mapping, etc. were initiated by researchers (me!) aka the UX-advocates. While currently, designers are usually the ones hosting them, and often times without the researchers' participation. Curious about your experience and thoughts on this:)
