Just saying what I do and was surprised others didn't. To be fair, Dragon Ball as a series only has screaming during powering up sequences, not usually as pain noises. Meanwhile AoT is screaming while humans attack titans and also screaming anytime anyone dies, which happens all the time. Averaged for time, I think AoT might have more screaming. I don't currently feel like slogging through all the fights of both shows to figure it out, but maybe I will someday.

Read the manga if you want a proper story. The anime doesn't do the story justice honestly. Not that the story is amazing anyway. AOT has a pretty shit ending in general if I'm being honest. I stopped watching after season 2 because the anime leads you to a completely different assumption than reality from the manga because they chose to leave in the gore parts and vague story that comes from it instead of including the more important story points.

For AOT, i agree that reading season 1 worth of manga and then going to the anime from there is a good idea cuz the other comment is right, season 1 is weakest but what can you expect, most season 1's suck, anime or nah.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Death Note Bleach Naruto/shippuden Gurren Lagann Berserk Assassination classroom If you are a straight horror thriller person higurashi (or 'when they cry') Hells paradise Baccano Wolf children So many more I can't remember haha If you like the animation styles, AOT has Wit and Mappa to thank and both always do pretty wonderful for all there productions ^-^ anime is great, AOT just made it hard to watch other stuff 😂

But you’re admitting the story is problematic if you have to get beyond an entire season. The problem with AOT isn’t simply the story- it’s driven by dread, fear, and suspense with futility of the human battle vs the Titans. Add to that the ridiculously low character development and you have a pretty crappy manga/anime. Then they remove that backdrop of Titans being effectively the end of society and it becomes political theatre that felt shoehorned in to give all of that shock and awe some purpose. Simply it isn’t good.

@MeisterReaper intense spoilers Still intense Season 4 stuff but not the very end The only time the characters are screaming is mostly when they are either doing something or someone else is doing something so you can't call it only screaming. The first season has a lot of screaming because it wants to show how scary the titans are but later on you have the titan shifters, the founding titan, and during Marley there's very little screaming besides the villagers, but they're getting nuked so you can't blame them. I never found a moment That I even recognized the screaming, I might during a rewatch but that's just because I know what everything's gonna happen but on the first watch there's always something new happening and a lot of story. The only people that focus on the screaming enough for it to be a problem either are trying to critique the show or simply don't like shows with a lot of story or drama/sadness

Foreshadowing the identities of the Collosal and armored titan throughout S1 was great, the calls back to Eren's Dad and his mission were great, seeing Erwin's mysterious drive and getting context to it; and lastly seeing how much Eren had changed from S1 to the end of S3 and on. S1 is amazing, with context.
