AP Biology vs. AP Chemistry: Which class is best for you?

AP Chem provides a good base for AP Bio. A few AP Chem topics appear in AP bio, so I have always been told to take AP chem before AP Bio (by the AP bio teacher) so that I know the necessary chemistry to succeed in AP Bio

It’s definitely possible to take AP Bio without AP Chem, however I strongly recommend taking at least one year of regular high school chemistry before AP Bio.

I want to go into forensics and I was wondering what you would recommend I take. I have seen a lot of people say AP Bio because of the actual field stuff but I was looking to be more on the lab side of that and people are saying to take AP Chem for that. I was just wondering what you would recommend.

I say it depends on your grade. If you are still an underclassman and you want to focus more on the lab side of forensics, take AP Chem and then AP Bio next year. If you are a rising senior, then just do AP chemistry maybe. Essentially, if you can, take both in the span of two years since the career relies on both sciences.

@@Definitely_Hawksyea I wish I did that, doing both ap chem and ap bio. But our school does it in a way that u take normal/ honor chem and need a chem teacher recommendation. I was in normal chem so my teacher would have never recommended me for that. So for senior year I had to scarafice ap chem and take only ap bio

I have a Bachelor's in Biology and a Master's in Educational Technology & Innovation! No PhD for now, but we'll see in the future. :) Science education is my biggest passion.
