The reason why Shadowflame isn't good is that it delays your Dcap spike, and then you aren't able to itemize defensively through hourglass and banshees. The ability to not get picked and buy time from those items is invaluable on twitch when combined with the slow which basically sets the enemy's speed to 100.

Also - if you are in a position to go Dcap second, you're probably doing great already, so there is a bias; espcially since Twitch snowballs hard, so doing great early goes a long way

You can see why Shadowflame 2nd is bad. Damage is not a problem, surviving is a problem. So you need defensive items Zhonya/Banshee first. Then maybe when you have those as a 5th item Shadowflame can be good as it does help your damage and poison.

The first statement was about the usefulness of Magic Pen on Twitch vs. a typical magic damage dealer. The second statement was on observation on whether he was able to kill a certain target. The choice is between building flat Magic Pen, and building AP. Both stats increase Magic damage output via different mechanisms: by increasing your own damage dealt, or by increasing the enemy's damage taken, respectively. On a typical mage, building AP will increase your magic damage dealt. On Twitch, building AP will increase your magic damage dealt, but also True damage. On a typical mage, building Magic pen will increase the enemy's damage taken from most of your damage. On Twitch, Magic pen will only increase the enemy's damage taken from his Magic damage, and the True damage will not benefit at all. If a typical mage were to build straight AP into enemies building MR, a lot of the damage would be reduced, and the AP scalings would be wasted. For Twitch building straight AP, the damage being absorbed by the MR is somewhat "compensated for" by the increase in True damage. Against a high MR target, building AP on Twitch is probably about as useful as building Magic Pen. Against a low MR target, building AP is definitely more useful than building Magic Pen. Hence, Magic Pen, especially flat Pen, is somewhat wasted on Twitch. That said, in *either* case, the following is valid: * Twitch should be able to burst kill a target with low MR * Twitch should have trouble burst killing a target with high MR Note that building flat Magic Pen doesn't really change this general rule; it does not erase enough magic resist to allow for easy bursting. Pekin recognized that he could kill Skarner who has low MR. If Skarner had MR, then Pekin would probably recognize Skarner as too tanky. But if Skarner had MR, and Pekin had flat Magic Pen, Pekin would probably still consider Skarner too tanky. Hope that helps :)

Offhand, I'd assume it's because on AP Twitch, you get less from your ult than normal, since the AD does basically nothing for you, it's just a range extender. Having it on lower cooldown is nice, but your E and W are way more important on this build, and your Q is also an insanely strong button that lets you position yourself correctly for fights.

Showing the big runepage is the best way to do it, just going to continue doing that. It shows for about 4 seconds so maybe if you are skipping intros you might be not seeing it? I do it in every video now and have been for a while.

So why do you keep saying lvl 9 is a power spike? Sure, you max out your main ability, but that doesn’t give any extra effects. It’s the same increase of power as every other time you level it up. Maxing an ability doesn’t do anything special. That’s like saying that ”the first long sword is ok, the second one is pretty good but the third one is a huge powerspike”. It makes no sense

Because at 10, 11, 12, 13 don't really 'spike' your damage anymore. At 9 your E is done. And also you are most likely higher than Jg/ADC/Supp so it's great timing to play off that big damage spike
