in their defense, it is unlikely that they would stay in the room long if they ever tried to seriously challenge an answer to a question or an administration narrative. anyone who has watched these reports regularly may remember the times when matt would stop taking the questions of certain reporters, sometimes for extended periods of time, because they had somehow failed to observe one of his 'rules'. this is an exercise in controlled opposition in the strictest sense of the word. open critique or dissent does not have to be tolerated
