Cambodian authorities are investigating the abuse of monkeys at the famous Angkor UNESCO World Heritage Site. Officials say some KZbinrs are physically abusing the macaques to earn cash by generating more views. Others are not physically abusive, but lure the monkeys with food and water, making them overly dependent on humans and increasingly aggressive toward tourists. Cambodia is well aware of what is going on at AW and in many private homes. They are complicit alongside YT in the abuse trade. They had said in 2022 they were going to start enforcing existing laws at the park

None of this abuse has been proven. Don’t they need evidence that they’re actually doing something wrong? The videos aren’t evidence because I can see monkeys doing the same thing at the zoo that they’re doing on the video.

@@Katy-Cherry Das wirkliche Problem ist eigentlich - wo kein Kunde, da keine Ware. Also sind WIR das Problem, die Leute, die abonnieren, die dafür sorgen, dass diese Leute damit Geld verdienen. Denn wenn sie nichts verdienen würden, würden sie das Filmen sein lassen - denn als Hobby betreiben sie das nicht.

We enjoy watching them in the wild. What we don't like is when they seperate mothers and young, when they put the young in bad situations, when they get them to fight over food. When they are surrounding them and are over the top of them. When they constantly hound them after they've had a young one stressing them out. They can film from a distance. They need to leave them alone, let them be animals. Quit giving them rides on bikes or packing them around. These people need to quit dumping their pets there also, it's cruel.

Kambodscha bitte wacht auf. Macht dem Missbrauch im Ankor Park ein Ende.Ein bedauernswerter Zustand der viele Touristen in Zukunft noch mehr Abschrecken wird.Kenne viele Leute die einen erneuten Besuch nicht wiederholen würden,obgleich es ein schönes Land ist.

Vor gut zwei Jahren wurde ihnen verboten diese Tiere zu filmen und es wurde ein Fütterungsverbot für alle, auch Touristen, verhangen. Das Problem ist die Größe von Angkor Wat. Das Gelände ist so groß dass man unmöglich alles überschauen kann.

@@Katy-Cherry - the food vendors have to obtain permits from government to sell the food stuffs being fed to the monkeys by tourists. When the parks were closed due to the CV, things slowed. They are back to normal. Government makes money from tourism and permits that are sold.

It's kind of funny that on the one hand they complain that the monkeys are being fed and on the other hand they make sure that the food is sold. On the other hand I understand it because most tourists only come because of the monkeys. And this country has to get money from somewhere

@amyahlquist3436 - there is no social net in many of these areas, those in government participate and have monkeys as pets and when others make an income on something found in a abundance to the area it is often encouraged by those claiming they are trying to "make it stop". What they are trying to stop is still a mystery as nothing has yet to be substantiated.

Cambodia relies on tourism to make their money. Many people who watch the monkey channels also visit the UNESCO site of Angkor Wat and Phnom Pros and they bring their tourist dollars with them. The monkey channels are free advertising.

All you have to do is watch some of the videos! They should not be allowed to feed, lure, chase, interrupt, or stand closer than 50 feet! Put those rules in place - enforce them - then they can film under those rules.

There are hours and hours of video evidence that Unesco, Apsara, The Dept of Forestry Admins and countless other govt agencies have received a long with signed petitions by individuals to stop the abuse in Angkor Wat.. That's all just stop it.. A blind person would be able to identify the abuse that goes on there.

You are so wrong. Just because these VO's do this horrible stuff doesn't mean everyone in Cambodia are like this. Most are hard working people that probably work harder than you ever have or will and get very little from it. I know people who have gone there and they were welcomed and treated very nicely wherever they went. How can you say something like this when you have no idea what the country and the people are really like?

They need to tighten up the laws and rules when it comes to the area where most of them film. They know that. It's been going on for over a decade, getting worse every year. Get some judicial action!

I did a search and found that "An Angkor Wat Ticket, sometimes known as the Angkor Pass, is required for all visitors to the Angkor Archaeological Park except for Cambodian citizens." I would change that policy. If VO's are contributing to the feeding risks with monkeys and litter in the park that other guests have to pay to upkeep of the park and the temples. Then to have VO's hording around the monkeys all day and are profiting from the park that would put a damper on VO's.

Popeye passed away, sweet pea is currently housed at a huge zoo. He is much older still huge still constantly seeking food, he has obviously been in several fights as he has several scars to face, ears and neck area.

couldn’t KZbin just stop paying these ppl who’s product is monkey content? Anything that involves animals like this from the wild that aren’t domesticated should be part of their social responsibility and ethics clause… Hypothetically speaking, if someone took a tiger from the zoo and brought it home to domesticate it for the purpose of YT content, would YT allow their platform to exploit that wild tiger? In a way, the person uploading this inappropriate tiger content would be exploiting YT in a way…
