The only "evidence" was provably intacct on her car at 5am, yet appeared broken at the scene half a day later in an unsecured crime scene (left unsecured at the demand of Proctor, an officer essentially fired now due to this case, who told the SERT team to wait until he had time to confiscate Karen's car). Anyone but McAlberts and boot lickers can see that the prosecution's "evidence" was non-existant.

Jackson was right with each point he made about the use of that form. The absurdity of Judge Cannone tersely addressing the defense team with "I was tired" and "that's the way we've always done it in Massachusetts, right Mr Yannetti?" was comedic, like many moments through the trial; but in a tragic way. There's nothing funny about an innocent woman being wrongfully accused by a corrupted DA's office. Starting with her hot mic audible sighs when the defense team spoke, Cannone's coddling of Lally, right up through that moment, made the judges' personal bias toward Karen Read glaringly obvious. Whether that bias infected the juror(s) we may never know. Judge Cannone's refusal to recuse herself, despite her familial connection to Chris Albert's vehicular homicide really makes one wonder.

@@jennlogan- the default position of the paper is “NOT GUILTY”. The reason is “a person is innocent until proven guilty” - hence only checking a box when guilty. That is also known by the lawyers who have taken a bar exam and are practicing in Massachusetts, so they knew. What these lawyers were doing was tiresome, close to frivolous and playing to the cameras. Well seeing your comment it seems to have worked. Again the judge decides in the courtroom and a lawyer in the United States should brace himself when he decides to tire and ware out a judge with unnecessary demands.

That makes no sense that the jury doesn't have a "not guilty" option! The judge is in fact forcing the jury to make the verdict she wants and "not guilty" isn't even an option to her. I don't get it. There's a missing checkbox that the defense lawyer is complaining about(right?) or there just isn't a checkbox because it's not needed, which is what the judge is saying(right?). If the checkbox is a "Guilty" mark then I can see where that makes sense. Just don't put a mark in that box if you don't think the defendant is guilty. Everybody is innocent until proven guilty, the defendant is innocent until the jury marks that guilty checkbox.

I agree with the defense lawyer.... where there are two options there ought to be two checkboxes, otherwise it could lead to the conclusion that there are no other options... notice the other lawyer, who is a practicing lawyer in that county, said he has never before seen a jury verdict form that did not have a "not guilty" checkbox for every lesser included charge.
