Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos are back together again. Their last collaboration "Poor Things" culminated in four Academy Awards, including best actress for Stone. Just two months later, they've premiered "Kinds of Kindness" at the Cannes Film Festival. It marks their third feature together, with a fourth, "Bugonia," set to begin production soon. The 35-year-old star from Arizona and 50-year-old arthouse filmmaker from Athens sat down with AP film writer Jake Coyle to talk about their partnership, savoring the absurd - and welcoming Jesse Plemons to their tight-knit troupe. #emmastone #yorgoslanthimos #cannes

There are many immensely appealing things about Yorgos L that come out of this short interview and two stand out. The one is his sheer tenacity, vision and extraordinary will to keep trying to make Poor Things a reality. Twelve years of rejection. Twelve years! And he shows no hubris nor triumphalism at its eventual success; only gratitude and amusement. The second is when for a split second he closes his eyes when Emily S. describes him as a 'genius'. The embarrassment is real and endearing. Roll on next movie please!!

THIS. They’re so fond of one another and the dynamic between them as actor and filmmaker is truly lovely to see. He is modest in that praise she gives him but it definitely shows how much she appreciates him and his dedication to the craft, his creativity, and his commitment to the actors he works with.

Can we talk about the moment at 08:00 where they look at each other? Yorgos looking at her eyes and then her lips and Emma looking at Yorgos like she's melting for him. We all know they're married to other people but if they don't have an affair they at least have feelings for each other.

I had to laugh when Yorgos says he chooses who should or should not be accepted into his Hollywood “troop”. An elitist director who turned Emma into an elitist actress too. I just feel sorry for her. Thank goodness there are directors in the industry who are much more talented and humble!

@@skyler-ox3qq I agree about La La Land, but Stone's an actress. Making a movie about unpalatable, macabre subjects is as valid as anything else. I don't think she acts in Yorgos's movies because she wants to "appear" to be a "bold" actress. I get the sense that she very much enjoys the movies and what she does in them.
