After shooting my viper v7 for the last 9 years I picked up the mamba 31 today. Apa is a true hunters bow. The carry handle and the hanger are options that once you discover, it's hard to ever look at anything else. The ability to change a string anywhere is just mint especially after you've walked in countless miles.

I tested an APA last year. Very innovative, no doubt about it. It’s very cool, but you gotta be a man to shoot one. They are pretty tough on the draw IMO even compared to the harsher drawing American bows. You can learn to manage anything , but I couldn’t see myself ever being able to shoot it very well, and I don’t exactly shoot well to begin with.
@LuskArcheryAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Yep. If I were to own one, I would have to shoot it at about 10 lbs lower all year, then crank it up to hunt.
@bazzatazza10873 жыл бұрын
You get used to it. From never shooting a bow within a year I had mine cranked up to 70 and could draw it repeatedly without issue. I'm sure there are easier pulling bows but I'm more interested in the speed than the pull for hunting
@milkrvr40883 жыл бұрын
I like the lines for center shot and the handle to carry it also like the finger grooves. Very innovative company have you done an xpedition x series review?
@LuskArcheryAdventures3 жыл бұрын
I did a test of the two season of the Xpeditions, but not the new 2021 bows. They're just wasn't enough interest in the vids to warrant the 2.5 hr drive each way to a shop that has them.

Hey John great video as always, how does that apa black mamba compare to your sr6?
@LuskArcheryAdventures2 жыл бұрын
They’re so very different. Love the feel of the APA-super light and maneuverable. But the SR6 is way way smoother and still generates great speed.
@trevenbutler2 жыл бұрын
@@LuskArcheryAdventures thanks John, I have an sr6 and it has a pretty aggressive hump on the end. I’m guessing it’s because I have the dl maxed out so I’ve been curious about other bows that I can still sent my moderately heavy arrow efficiently

They offer a test drive option now so you can order the bow and try it out and return it if you’re not impressed. I’m looking at doing that all tho I will wait until I can afford it because I know I won’t be sending it back haha

Never shot an APA, but I've always thought they seemed very innovative. This seems to be carried forward with this bow too. The centershot lines, the stabilization features, the finger grooves--all of that looks like pretty cool additive innovations. I've been told the APA bows have some stout vibration in the hand; was this one more or less easy in the hand as compared to their previous bows?
@LuskArcheryAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. It felt great in hand--like I said in the vid, it had a little hand shock at the shot, but it was a bare bow as well.
@sinepari91602 жыл бұрын
Those APA bows just sound loud to me on camera. Must be different in person due to the PSE being a bit louder.
@LuskArcheryAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Well, the light weight does make them a bit louder. But once you add all your attachments to them, it will quiet down a lot.

I carry a pocket knife with me every day. I don’t carry a Swiss Army knife because I find them “gimmicky”. APA makes Swiss Army bows. I met the owner at a shoot, he seemed like a decent enough guy. But his bows just don’t do it for me. As always, I love watching your videos. Especially this years (2022) broadhead tests.

@acanuck32673 жыл бұрын
There are 2 flaws with these bows. There is common issue of the fletching to touch the micro tune and these bows come out of tune easily. I shot APA for a year and missed an animal only to find the power cable was damaged. I called APA and they admitted they knew they had a bad batch of cables from scorpion strings. My problem is they knew there was a bad batch and didn't let anyone know. Fail. Elite had an issue with thier roller guards and put out announcements to contact them and they'll make it right.
@spencerpierce38063 жыл бұрын
There’s also a huge problem with their limbs. I went through 2-3 sets on the one that I owned in a year and a half. There was a guy I shot with who would need to get new limbs every month for his Mamba

I've personally never had a problem with their limbs, but the bows themselves do require a bit of continuous fiddling, which is fine with me. I agree about Scorpion Strings, though, I'll never buy them again. I ordered complete set last year, they only sent me one buss cable. I called to let them know and the guy sounded like he didn't even believe me, but he assured me he'd mail out a new pair. Never got it and after a while they stopped responding to my calls.

@@LuskArcheryAdventures Hey Mr. Lusk. Quick question about your experience testing broadheads. I want a cut on contact single bevel but Im not sure if bleeders are necessary or not. I saw a review you did on the Bishop Dicing Drill broadheads a long time ago. They just went on clearance and Im considering picking them up. However, you mentioned when you shot a doe the exit hole did not create much of a blood trail. Im worried about this as I hunt in thick timber. In your experience, do bleeder bleeder blades make a big difference in blood trails and damage? Also, is it worth the tradeoff between reduced penetration and spin in the medium? I might just hold off for the single bevel Iron Wills to come back in stock but 300$ for 12 Bishops seems like a good investment at the moment. As always, Thanks for what you do!
