The video above demonstrates how to set up APA headers (they are different on title page than rest of pages) at time mark :54. "Header" refers to any text at the top (or head) of the page; footer refers to any text (such as footnote) at the bottom (or "foot") of the page. "Running" means it goes on every page or "runs" through the document. It is a hold over from print days in case pages got separated. Today it's just a formality.

@sandbar3000 -- thx for your comment, sandbar. This video doesn't cover in-text citation guidelines (because of old 10:00 rule). For sources that display them, page numbers are included with an in-text citation for a direct quote. If page numbers are not visible on the source, then paragraph numbers are used. If those aren't present, then headings are used. If headings aren't used, . . . . All of this is explained in section 6.05 of APA Sixth.

@olhjrk -- After the words Running head: the shortened title cannot be longer than 50 characters, including spaces. Use title capitalization for the main title on your first page. That means capitalize all major words (words that aren't prepositions or articles) and always capitalize the first and last words. Use Word's header function as described in the video.

APA has five levels of headings. Level One is centered and boldfaced. Check with your teacher to make sure the word "Introduction" is OK to use. Usually your main title goes above the intro paragraph.

Aaron--If your instructor tells you to do anything different from what you see in the video, you should follow her/his instructions. Subtitles for paragraphs (or multi-paragraph) sections of a paper usually begin with Level One headings--centered, title capitalization, boldfaced.

@AIRMAN497 -->> "running head" is a term from book publishing that refers to a short title that appears at the top of every page, thus it is present throughout the printing run from front to back. If you open just about any book, you'll see different running heads/titles on the left and right body pages.
