Thank you for the "vid", very concise and clear. As a new student taking 400 level classes, my professor advised us we need to write an 8-12 page "annotated" paper. It has been more than a few years since I've written a paper like this, and the JC level classes never require it. the CSUF class does in Retirement & Financial Planning.

Very helpful. Just a technical note: Times New Roman is a "Serif" font, not a "Sans Serif." The font you are reading here is Sans Serif -- meaning without serifs -- or in other words more of a block letter style. Serifs are the extra little "tails" or "wings" on the typeface. A side-by-side comparison makes the difference clear. There are a variety of fonts in both styles. (Hope that helps anyone who might not have known.)

This was a good video BUT, most important, the author's name in the reference is the only thing remaining on the left. Below the reference which is always done hanging because it is an apa reference, always indent the text below the reference lining up with the second line of the reference. This is formatted incorrectly.

It would be nice to have audio or voice over to provide context to what is being done. For example, does a blank line go between each reference and annotation or no? Because I see both in the video and no audio makes it hard to completely discern why. Unless I'm an idiot and I missed something, which is very possible.

Hi! I'm writing a science textbook. I've solved a lot of problems without reliance upon any texts in particular ( it's a physics book ). Would it be necessary for me to create a bibliography? If the answer is " yes ", how would this be done ( I have few if any quotations in my text. )

Hi, your tutorial is very helpful and I really appreciate they way it is formatted. I am little unclear over the concept of Annotated Bibliography vs References. Let me answer my question, and you can tell me whether it is right or wrong. AB have the citation, however, it needs one paragraphic summary, related to Author's work, on the other hand Referencing only needs a link to the respective (book)(author) or (article). Right?

Hi. Which APA edition are you sampling here?
@cynthiajohnson65327 жыл бұрын
Thank you for some good information. However... ** What you are illustrating is the REFERENCES listing, and NOT an Annotated Bibliography. The Annotated Bibliography includes a paragraph that details the information in that source that justifies its inclusion in the paper and demonstrates how the source is used in the paper, etc... ** Also, for formatted paragraphs (outdented and indented) it is MUCH better to use Word's Styles or at least paragraph formatting to achieve the desired indentation. **For Body content of APA paper: Paragraph | Indentation | Special... First line = 0.50" | OK ** For Reference listing outdent in APA paper: Paragraph | Indentation | Special... Hanging = 0.50" | OK ... DANGER: When you break up a paragraph (by hitting "enter"), you destroy the flow of the document and introduce greater chance of error as you continue to edit your paper. If you work with "special characters revealed" (click the paragraph button from the Home ribbon in the Paragraph section, upper right corner), you will be able to see all paragraphs in your paper as well as all spaces and tab marks. It makes it MUCH easier Thanks again for your demonstration in how to find the particular elements required for APA references! You did a GREAT job!!! [Personally, I prefer to use Zotero as my free citation manager, but my reliance on it means that there are nuances of APA that I forget. sigh...]

@RaechelSoicher11 жыл бұрын
Do you mean that you have two references whose first author is the same last name? In that case, put them in order by the second author's last name. If you have two citations from the same authors, put them in order by year of publication.

I'm not 100% sure but I've been doing a lot of research on this because the APA Publication Manual 6th ed does not discuss this topic. OWL perdue says to write 2 paragraphs--not 1 like this author has. The first paragraph is to be a summary of the book and the 2nd paragraph is an evaluation of the book. I have also seen 3rd paragraphs discuss how it was applicable to the author's paper. However, on all the examples I've seen, the formatting has been different on every one.
