They are mountain spirits and they do them in the day.. This night particular is Saturday night and the singing before they come down is calling to them.. The dancers then show up and dance for the night for a certain amount of songs.. Then Sunday morning depending on the tradition of the Apache, they come back out again for the morning to paint the girl.
