@varaprasad83787 жыл бұрын
Hi Reshma, what exactly happening when both WRITE and READ operations performed on a block at same time?
@edurekaIN6 жыл бұрын
HDFS follows WORM i.e. Write Once Read Many policy. Once the block that has been written to HDFS can't be edited or modified. Hence, you will never be able to write to the data blocks already residing in HDFS. And yes, multiple user can perform read operation concurrently on same data blocks. Hope this helps :)

is there any limit on the data stored across each Data node/slave node?or How many blocks of data can be stored across a Data node?
@edurekaIN6 жыл бұрын
Hey Shravan, When a user stores a file in HDFS, the file is divided into data blocks, and three copies of these data blocks are stored in slave nodes throughout the Hadoop cluster. That's a lot of data blocks to keep track of. Hope this helps!

Mam, I have a doubt, if the replication factor is 3 by default , then because of tht the hdfs space to store the data becomes large know
@edurekaIN5 жыл бұрын
Hadoop is used to store and save your data as much as possible in many places so that whenever you need it, it is available to you. If space was a concern, then we would waste more time and vice versa. So yes, space does increase but time reduces. Hope that helps

I didn't understand pipeline for copying. If we copy the block A three times which are available in three different racks. It is just a duplicate right?
@edurekaIN6 жыл бұрын
Hey Krishna, Hadoop is a cost effective solution because it uses commodity hardware. Now, as they are commodity hardware, they are more prone to faliure. Thus, we keep replicas, that if one of the hardware fails we have the backup of the data which is stored on it. To understand more about how replication takes place, you can go through this hdfs tutorial blog -> www.edureka.co/blog/apache-hadoop-hdfs-architecture/#rack_awareness Hope this helps :)
