I'm a 72 yr old white boy that was born 100 yrs too late. I love pow wows. I especially love watching the younger children and the little ones dance in their regalia. It does my heart good to see them carrying on their ancestral heritage. I just hope that they speak, and listen, to the old ones to learn any of their stories. They are the only ones left to pass those stories down to those who will listen.

Videotaped at Yavapai-Apache Nation Camp Verde, Arizona one hot summer day in July, 2010 by a visiting film maker...Yes, the pow-wow took place on the Yavapai-Apache Nation at the Casino Stargazer amphitheater and I suppose it was sort of an "Apache Pow-Wow" but more like a pan-Indianism gathering of various tribes dressing up like northern plains Indian. But, still a great occasion to celebrate Indian America regardless of where the dancers came from...Thanks Terry for doing a great job on the editing of the show.

You're culture has a great regard for nature as had irish culture. Mother earth and how you respect and revere it. You have a great contribution to make in the ailing modern world. Destroying nature as mankind is doing, will finish us. Maybe you as a people can influence change with your fellow devotees across the world. Slan go foill( goodbye for now). Do Apaches have diffrent beliefs on women at the drum?
@Victor3D_com6 жыл бұрын
I don't know, how Apache belief explains it, but Siberian tribes have the same tradition about drums: only man do it. They explain so: heaven controls men mind, Earth controls women mind. Drum action is like heaven voice (thunder) , so only man can. Man through the drum calls the heaven spirits to light the human mind. Woman through the drum even involuntarily would call the evil spirits from under the ground. It is inadmissible.
@brendagillespie28055 жыл бұрын
@@Victor3D_com Totally agree. I am from the indigenous tribes (Saamis Reindeer hearders of Norway). We have so many beliefs as Native American's. Even though my family has Native American I did not get this in my own DNA. Blessings
