Zaire-Mobutu meets president of neighbouring Congo

The beleagured Zairean president, Mobutu Sese Seko, met the
president of neighbouring Congo in Kinshasa for talks on
Saturday (12/4).
At the meeting, President Pascal Lissouba of Congo reassured
Mobutu of his continuing support - despite the presence of
several thousand foreign battle troops stationed in the Congo
capital, Brazzaville.

the two congos already have Lingala, why the need for swahili which is spoken mostly in kenya and tanzania?

Why should Swahili be the unifying language? They speak their own native languages, they don’t need Swahili. They speak French or English purely for the convenience of reaching out to more people. Most people don’t speak Swahili in central Africa and most of east Africa.
