@@tim_779 So true. One question has never been asked: Who is an African citizen ? Those who before even thinking of an answer link the whole 'question' to 'skin color' are doomed and with them their community that has failed so far to outlaw them. During the Boer wars African black 'aborigines' worked for Kitchener as irregular infantry mostly to spy out the Boers' movements, thus helped him gain victory and enjoyed the respect as equal citizens they fully deserved in what was to be the British colonies in Southern Africa, where European settlers likewise were given their fair share of acceptance and integration by the 'aborigines'. There was nobody who was even dreaming of regarding neighbours as not being Africans. The Boers, however, as we know, kept thinking otherwise, eventually failed and paved the way for 'retributive' black racism that 'united' South Africans are facing today. May what is left of rare and sought-after commodities in South Africa's soil help the minority to retain their common sense in order to form black+white one-rationality rule for their community's sake and prosperity. - Black racism in former Rhodesia was mainly a propaganda stunt pulled by the Communist Mugabe regime (which is still in power under successor Mnangagwa) and more like a poison that was administered to the people.

That's the point. "If." If you permit ifs, the possibilities are endless. Rhodesia failed. It failed because you can't have a Rhodesia like Rhodesia, and not merely because of Mugabe. Apologists view the collapse of Rhodesia as the outcome of some externality independent of Rhodesia, as if it is beyond the responsibility of the state to have the support of its people, and the massive discontent was solely the product of externality. But how were so many people driven to hate Smith's government in the first place? Rhodesia failed at the institutional and sociopolitical level. It had no social or national cohesion. They still fail to see how the sectarian and racist policies of Smith contributed to the insurgency. If it was the case that Rhodesia's minority-rule was bound to stir up anti-government sentiment and rebellion, do ordinary Rhodesians share responsibility? They are so fixated on Mugabe and the direct agency of Mugabe in atrocities that they miss the point that Rhodesia was, at least phenomenologically, responsible for creating Mugabe.

History has proven people like Ian Smith and Verwoerd to be in the right. We were 95% sure in the early nineties but today, 100%. Anyone who deny the fact is an anti-white racist.

I'm no supporter of racist behaviour or ideology, but I've noticed people get irrationally hysterical about 'so-called' racism these days! Here's an interesting question for you! Would you rather be free, prosperous and go to sleep with a belly full of food, with your country led by a 'supposedly' racist leader, ....or be fearful for your life, poverty stricken and starving, under someone who says he speaks for the people but, in fact, is only looking out for himself? Sure Smith had his faults, but he proved to be an able administrator of Zimbabwe. Mugabe on the other hand was clueless, he just wanted power for power's sake, he didn't have any answers, and stubbornly clung on to power killing anyone who challenged him, driving Zimbabwe into the ground. The first question to be asked of any leader is, 'can they do the job'! Smith could, Mugabe couldn't.

Leaders win wars not battles , don't you know that ? Rhodesia was an independent country , running its affairs without the aid or approval of the west so why did he turn to the west ,obviously, to tell them he had lost the war but needed a dignified exit . He told you he was forced to surrender --- because they saw him blooded and continuing in a fight that was going to kill him and everybody - men of impaired judgement do that , Hitler comes into mind. We witnessed the rage between Zanu and Zapu during the Entumbane time and realised then that had Zipra (Or ZAPU) and Smiths Government joined forces we would have had a different Zimbabwe today. A pity Mr Nkoma chose to support Mugabe as it was only a question if time before old tribal hatreds would emerge and the shona would use their power to take down the Ndebele and any opposition. Mugabes election was won only on a numbers game, thats all, 80% Shona and 20% Ndebele. Doesnt take a genius to have seen that from the begining. A united Government under Nkomo, Muzorewa and Smith would and could have build a Fantastic country for us all. RIP Mr Nkomo, just a pity you couldnt see the Trees for the forest at the time. Zanla forces were absolutly no match at all against the well trained and loyal Rhodesian army (80% Blacks) and the Zipra forces.
