Such incredible graphic details about the 'history' of the apartment...

Last Days by Adam Nevill, is my favourite by him I think. Somehow, I've abandoned Apartment 16 a few times, and can never recall why.... which is terribly mysterious in itself lol....

Great review Olly. Adam Nevill is my favourite author. I recommend all his novels but the one that stays with me is The House of Small Shadows.

He's very good. I read this about a decade back and it has stayed with me. 'The Ritual' is another of his I enjoyed. Very fine traditional Horror writing.

Such a great book! I’d go as far as to say that Nevill is one of the best horror writers in the entire world 😂

Thank you, Olly. I've been curious about this one, but I'm realizing Nevill's horror style is not exactly what I'm after. Maybe I'll borrow it from the library. I'm currently reading Nestlings by Nat Cassidy, which is also set in an apartment building and shares Rosemary's Baby vibes--I'm really enjoying that. Oh, and lastly, thank you for recommending Dark Matter by Michelle Paver! I just finished it and loved it. Hope your day is going well :)

Sounds like a good one! Btw, your old camera setup still seems better to me after watching your last few videos. This seems darker with more shadows and less color popping.

Nevill is brilliant! He’s as disturbing and taut and quintessentially British as Joel Lane to me. Elegant slow burn horror!

Sliver, also by Ira Levin, is another apartment/condo novel. I have fond memories of it but should mention that it doesn’t have a great rating on GR.

I guess this will be the next Nevill for me, after I finish "All the Fiends..." So far, the scariest one was " Last Days" until I read " No one gets Out Alive " this summer. ( that one, from the very beggining, just unrelentigly keeps the fear pressure on )

Hearing that something is Lovecraftian doesn't do anything for me. But hearing it is Lucio Fulci-like does 👍

Fulci-esque, eh? OK, now I'm interested.

I enjoyed this well enough - I liked the mood/tone of it, which felt to me like an upmarket version of a Ramsey Campbell. Something about RC in Belgravia just tickles me, and the pervasive FEEL of the book was very Campbell-esque. Otherwise, it was well-written, but I'm clearly not the proper demographic. I did still enjoy it, though. I liked the intricate plot and the basic narrative. Also, the aunt and uncle. I sort of wish I'd clicked with a main character more. But all my waffling boils down to "me" things. The book was solid.

I’ve only read No One Gets Out Alive and liked it for the most part though the ending fell flat for me. I’ve added this to my tbr and will hopefully get to his other books in 2025.

I looooved this book ❤ but i still would want to know more about the 'stuff' that is going on in the apartment... It can be another book/ novella about it...

I just finished a book called Tender is The Flesh by Augustina Bazterrica... what a messed up book. You should check it out if you haven't yet! It's a dystopian horror book. EDIT: I see that you have read it! I'm going to watch your review on it now!

Well it's called Apartment 16, so it has to be the possession trope. I dont know how to spell possession. Does it really have 4 S's ? 🤭

I like Olly's channel, but I stopped buying books. They are too expensive to throw away, and they take up too much space. American libraries don't stock British horror novels. So, where does that leave me,?
