First of all your previous landlord was on some type of dr**gs because what is with that behavior???? She felt like you flooded the house, no proof whatsoever then the threatened you with the police. An advice is just to be alert, don’t let Chinese take advantage of you for being a foreigner and for being new, I’m sure you would enjoy China
