Can I ask what you do for work in Egypt. I’m from Toronto also and would love to live there also but I’m worried about jobs and cost of living.
@pharoahnest2 жыл бұрын
Hi Helen, I hope you are well. You may try to find a job as an English language teacher at a foreign language school or institute, or in a kindergarten. Then, upon settling in, you can start to move to another job according to your qualifications if you wish. Please pay attention to culture shock. Cities I recommend to live in such as Hurghada or Sharm. Good luck.

I lived for 4 years im Egypt 1983-1987. The problem is always getting a work permit which is next to impossible to get once you are there. There are 20 milliom people in Cairo and not enough jobs for all those people by a long shot. And Egypt will always take care of their own first. That first apartment looked like it might belong to a high ranking member of the military. I know this because I stayed in such a place once. You didnt mention it but I am sure the rents must be jaw droppimg in all 3 places. The Egyptian currency has been devalued more than once over the last 2 decades. I was a student when I was there and came prepared with money and came back to the U.S. to work in the summer and then went back. This is not going to be as easy as you think. Do your homework first and for God's sake don't sign a lease in Arabic unless you have a trustworthy person translate it first.

Do you still live there ? And what your opinion on Cairo
@jodi2605 Жыл бұрын
Hi! No I’m currently travelling. Just like any country there are pros and cons. If going as a tourist make sure to book day trips with reputable companies and read reviews to enhance your experience. If going there to live/work I would ask to speak with a colleague and get their perspective as Cairo is huge and different areas give different vibes. They can also better prepare you for what your expected day to day will be like. Which is different for everyone based on the demands of their work. Hope this helps! 😊

I have enough passive income. Goal is to save money while living somewhere outside US. Ik you don’t live there anymore but any suggestions? Or Is there anyone/company for consultation or a forum you can suggest. Thanks
@jodi26056 ай бұрын
Hi there! Congrats on your decision to experiencing living abroad! I would suggest using Uber over taxi, expat communities I’m aware of to live in Al Rehab (Gated community more calm, green spaces and family oriented)& Maadi (busy, lots of expats, restaurant’s). I would suggest Googling realtor companies in Cairo as the company I worked for sorted out housing for me. Good luck I hope you enjoy your time there ☺️

Where is the first apartment located at in Egypt? I love it. I just wish that it had more bedrooms though because my Egyptian relatives & friends would definitely want to come over for a visit. LOL 🎉 plus I am married & we have an 8 years old daughter and we would definitely want more kids in the future, but first we have to find the perfect dream home in Egypt. We love that first apartment’s design style unfortunately it is only a 2 bedroom. Too small for a family expecting to be a larger family soon.

For a bigger place you would def need a villa if you want more bedrooms. Apartments usually have two bedrooms from what I’ve seen in the Rehab area. Good luck!

@jodi2605 Жыл бұрын
Madinaty for me was to far away. It has a really nice golf club and pool though. However, every time you leave that area you would have to pay a toll. When using Uber I found it annoying because the Uber driver would have to have their own personal cash to pay the toll. And sometimes they didn’t have the cash in hand. Even though I paid the toll price on the app. New Cairo I think has more going on and better accessibility. Hope that’s helps!
