Number 4! There's an ok closet, it's bright, the kitchen is not in the hallway and it has the windows opposite it!
@theofanousss
@theofanousss 7 жыл бұрын
And now that I've watched it again, there's more than one closet in #4! Number 5 only has a big hallway, which can make you think that it's bigger than it actually is but the actual living space looked quite small and jam-packed..

lndsyvghnbubert lol! Me too! I guess however that they are purposefully not looking at something bigger because Stella works out of town a lot of the time and Bart probably won't be able to spend a lot of time at home either, especially if he is starts working on somewhere new!

seraphiccandy21....because we don't have clothes lines for hanging clothes anymore and hanging them of the window is a no no. Hanging clothes on a line is an antiquated notion in America, washers & dryers are both the same prices anyway.

I vote for Apartment #2 or #4. I know that it's hard to see past all of the clutter in Apartment #2, but it has really nice space in the living room that allows for good separation between the bed and couch. I definitely think the hallway in Apartment #5 is dead space.

I like 3 and 5. The one with the washer dryer, huge kitchen, and amazing view (3) is awesome. On 5, can a washer/dryer be added into one of the closets? Also, location should be a huge factor, especially for you. Bart can plan ahead but you, not so much.

That view in #3 is just...perfect. Both from the apartment and from the rooftop. You could easily fit a small 2-person table in that kitchen area against the opposite wall.
@diannewi

I'm overly analytical, here are my thoughts. 1) You need to look more, especially look in Battery Park City and north of there. That area is quiet and close to many amenities. 2) The single most important feature in an apartment (IMO) is a washer/dryer inside your unit, the time saving alone is so important. If you plan to send ALL your laundry out (easy in NYC but $$$) then having a W/D isn't so important. Or, if you're OK with doing laundry in your building's basement, W/D isn't a big deal. This would be a total deal breaker for me, you might feel differently. 3) Next most important factor is YOUR commute to work. Proximity to subway to Penn Station for Newark or a direct or single transfer to LGA or JFK by subway. Those are a must for you. 4) Supermarket access, preferably within walking distance. 5) Storage space and adequate closets. 6) An in-building storage area for off-season clothes, etc. Bottom line, I would look more and make notes on each unit you look at. Good luck! Whatever you choose will be better than a crash pad and commute to Germany...

#4 looks like the best/most usable space! having room for a couch/loveseat is so important because you don't want to have to rely on using your bed just for space to relax! plus I love how the kitchen is situated in the corner like that
@ldnurse007
@ldnurse007 7 жыл бұрын
Ok, aside from the fact that #2 was really cluttered, I liked the potential of that space the most. The reason I say that is because the flow and or ability of separating a little living area from the bed was there. It is hard, especially as women to see past the current tenants clutter though. Try to envision all of their stuff out, and the organization that YOU would bring to it. Having said that, I didn't see any closets in number 2. That would be a deal breaker in such small quarters. The last Apt was my next favorite because of the closets/storage. Again, as women, our first reaction is to choose based on aesthetics. I have learned many a hard lesson in life, in not paying attention to what the day to day functionality of a space would bring. Choose your apartment based on it's bones, and the functionality it offers. You can always make the space your own later. Especially with having such a small space to work with, you don't want to regret the lack of storage & function. Good luck!

Stella, I'm gonna be real. All of those apts were nice but not nice enough for what the rent is. I know! I grew up in Clinton Hill loved my neighborhood. Location is everything in NY. Financially both of your incomes can manage the market value in Financial district. It wld be convenient for your husband but a very stressful commute for you. Find a happy medium. Downtown Brooklyn perhaps 15-20 mins commute on the train...and anywhere near the A train you can take to JFK and get the airtrain. But I digress research Bk look for brownstones or high rise blgs. w/amenities that meet your non negotiable needs. What you spend in the city for a studio you cld find a 1bed in Bk and or Qns. I know time is a restraint but look some more. Both of you, comfort is priority.

The apartments you were looking at are small not all New York apartments are that small you need to remember that you're looking at apartments downtown but if you go uptown the apartments are much bigger! I've lived in New York on my life in the same apartments f and it's a two bedroom extremely big and rent isn't that expensive the train stations or a cab to LaGuardia JFK you're about 30 minutes 35 minutes away depending on traffic and from the one in Jersey literally across the bridge if you look for apartments in Inwood uptown 207. Really nice neighborhood the one train and the A-Train are here! So look into it I love your videos you're so awesome I am applying to be a flight attendant soooo let see what happens!!!!☺ good luck 🍀

I'm still trying to get my head around how two grown people can live/function in such a small place! I mean your clothes and shoes alone would hoover up all the closet space. Poor Bart will have to live out of a suitcase. I cant imagine the prices, but then again you are slap bang in the middle of the most expensive piece of land on Earth. If there is ever the pitter patter of little feet then you'll be back out of Manhattan looking for SPACE and Bart will have to commute anyways. My advice, save your money and stay put, Bart is German, they love public transport :-)

Another vote for having a washer and dryer. Back when I still lived in apartments I experienced both having a washer and dryer in the unit, and having to use a laundromat. There is no comparison. # 3 bc of the streamlined kitchen and W/D. Also # 5 bc that runaway is a grand entrance; extra closets; defined areas

I liked 3 and 5. We just stayed in a studio in Maui and it had a Murphy bed. Both sides of it had drawers and a closet. That is an idea to give you more storage. When you aren't sleeping you can fold it away and you won't feel like you are in such a small space. My daughter works for AA and can't wait to turn 21 to apply as a FA. Your blog's have inspired her. Thank you and congratulations Mrs. Connolly.

Apartment number 3! Bathroom & Kitchen is beautiful. You can always put shelves in the living/bedroom area for extra things you have. Plus you don't have to do laundry outside of your own home.

As a Flight Attendant turned Realtor, I approve of #5 ;-) Least amount of hall noise with the long hallway, and enough space for a small intimate amount of visitors, plus the usual amenities. As long as you have community laundry within the building, it's not that big of a deal to have W/D in unit as long as it's in the building. I've lived in multiple studios in Chicago, and I definitely would have given anything for #5! Best of luck with whatever you choose!!
