Welcome to Toronto and I hope you will be very happy here. After binging all day on tours of New York City apartments, it was very interesting to see your video touring apartments in my home city of Toronto. It was also interesting to hear a newcomer's description of the various areas, all of which are fairly familiar to me, and have at one time or another housed friends of mine. The only thing about which I am slightly unclear, is whether all or some of the units you toured were rentals in condominium buildings, or apartments in multi-unit rental buildings. My interest in the distinction is because in a multi-unit rental buildings, you can normally continue your occupancy for as long as you choose and they are also generally under rent control, whereas renting a condominium unit leaves you without the benefit of rent control, and also vulnerable to legally notified termination of tenancy at anytime that the landlord wants to claim they need the apartment back for personal use. As a lazy, retired woman, I'm not looking to make many more moves from this point on so that distinction would be quite significant for me. Otherwise, kudos on a well-presented & produced video which was entertaining and educational.

Hey! So I believe all the places we viewed were condominium apartments. Thank you so much for watching xx

there are basically no new buildings that are purpose built rentals....those buildings will be old...built in the mid last century and many of them renovated....rooms are much larger.

I like the last one too! My hubs and I live in Toronto and wanting to give UK specifically Scotland a go(where hes from) because Torontos gotten so badly out of our budget. Helpful seeing your perspective. We live in a renovated "toronto special" building and patiently waiting for our neighbour to move out so we can snatch up the two bedroom and get out of our one bedroom (and not break the bank). Enjoy your new place!!! ❤

Hey. I've heard so many great things about Scotland and from what I know it's much more affordable than London, which is where i'm from. London prices are very comparable to Toronto, but you definitely get MUCH more for your money here in Canada. Have fun on your journey wherever you decide to move! Thank you so much for watching xx

Hello lady. I am a Torontonian. I have an H&M in my mall and there is a woman who works there with a british accent. I'm here for your accent and i love the days when she is working and i can hear her voice lol.

Hi Naomi! Thanks for making the video. I will soon be moving there for work from the US, so wondering if the commissions for realtors are high, and should just look for apartments myself, or are realtors fees justified?

Hey thats so exciting that you will me moving over! Our realtors fees were included and (paid by the landlord) so we didn't have to worry about this at all. You could definitely look for apartments yourself but honestly they go so quickly here in Toronto. The great thing about having Amanda our realtor is that she got us access to viewings immediately, and we would get the first alerts as soon as a space was listed. Honestly it relieved so much stress having her. I hope this helps & thanks for watching! xx

#2 that is not a full size fridge. G*d I hate how overpriced Canadian housing is. Ridiculous. It keeps people poor.

Hey, thank you for the video. it was very helpful. when you mention a queen size bed, is that equivalent to a UK double or is it an actual queen size bed please and also I am from London and moving soon, do they ask for 6 months rent upfront as a new comer or just first and last month rent. Thanks for your help x

Thank you so much for watching! the Queen size bed is actually slightly bigger than a UK double. The UK double would be considered a full size here in canada, so keep that in mind when buying bed sheets. Also as a newcomer without any credit history be prepared to pay a few months upfront to secure your apartment. It's the only way landlords will trust you, we experienced some places asking for anywhere from 4-6 months upfront + first and last month.

I find this video very informative and appreciate your thorough explanation. I plan to move to Toronto, Canada with my family, which includes 2 adults and a 7-year-old child. I am looking to rent a house, preferably a condo in a gated community with nearby schools, grocery stores, and public transport. My budget is within $2,000 (+/-200$). As I will be new to the country, I don't have a specific area in mind, but I prefer not to live in a secluded area. It would be ideal if the school has a high rating and the neighborhood has a strong Indian community presence. Can you please help me with this?

Hey! Thanks for commenting, i'm glad you found my video useful. I think there is definitely a neighbourhood that will suit your needs, i'm not an expert but i would definitely recommend you reach out to my Realtor Amanda, she really made our move easy and will help you search within your budget! Her details are in the video description. Best of luck x

Apparently so! Still you would never find a 2br within this price range in London, UK. So my votes still for Toronto. Thanks for watching :)
