GIRL, don’t sleep on Mission Valley! There’s so many newer apartments with beautiful finishings also and it’s way more central than La Jolla and DT. It’s in the middle of two malls and is 10 mins from the beach, 10 mins from North Park, & 10mins from DT. I always felt safe there as I was living there in my early 20s. :)

I like a place with a Patio Balcony so that when you are done BAR-B-QUE-ing you can dump the Hot Charcoal off the side railing. Saves time on cleaning up a B-B-Q and you don't have to wait for the coals to cool off. Just my thoughts.

San Diego is a nice size medium city that feels like a small town. Everyone kinda knows each other or often runs into someone they know when they are out. This can be good or bad depending on the situation. Downtown SD does have a higher crime rate than the rest of San Diego, so you can use crime mapper to see the statistics for your desired address. I would suggest 4 weeks or higher when doing that research. If you are a young adult in your 20's (GenZ/ Generation Z) Pacific Beach is where a majority of people that age live.

If you really want to start saving for a house for when/if the prices of housing comes down, you really should get a roommate and get something less posh/new than a downtown apartment with bay views or La Jolla.

The DT high rises are amazing. Big water views would seal the deal for me. They seem to tick all the boxes too. The towers are nice because many have amenities like pools, gyms, etc. I think they are safer too. DT is nice because there’s access to so much from there, including nightlife. Coaster train a short walk away giving you access to beautiful North SD County beach towns. If you can swing the elevated rent #1 or # 3 would be my choice

What do you do for a living that you are able to afford $2,700 a month for an apartment at your age? Prices in San Diego are ridiculous. $2,400 for a one bedroom? insane. I remember 10 years ago when you could rent a whole 3 bedroom single family home for less than that.
