HAPPY NEW YEAR 🍾🎆 *** This video is very chatty in chunks - long parts of chatting and long parts of motivational video & music - it just got way too late to record a full voiceover!!!*** Kicking off the first video of 2022 with an apartment reset (part 1 anyway!!!) getting all the Christmas decor packed up ready for a nice clean tomorrow!!! Did you have a big NYE? I stayed in with the boys and watched the fireworks from home up on the rooftop and then had a few girlfriends over on New Year's Day for some afternoon drinks and a nice catch up - sooooo much better than doing anything in crowds for NYE!!! Anyway can't wait to see what this year brings for the channel!!! Lots of fun stuff planned xxx

I always decorate too early and then I am dying to take it all down by the 1st of January. I find I go kind of minimalist after Christmas, everything feels bigger and more space!!

I love the feeling of having that fresh clean space after Christmas - and I am definitely trying to be on the more minimal side where possible in this apartment - moving a lot to closed in furniture with doors and drawers rather than so much open shelving (which I also love!!!) 💫♥️💫

Humidity is not something I cope well with. We are not used to extreme heat in Ireland. Your channel gets better and better. You have a humorous, and warm personality. You also have style. I’m tired just watching you tidy up. You did well. I was always told that we take down the tree after 6 January which is the epiphany. So I’ve still got that to look forward to. 😁 As for the mirrors, I prefer the round mirror to the arched one. I always find great mirrors and decor at TJ Maxx.

I would normally leave the Christmas decor up till later too - especially if the boys were home for this half of the holidays, but Rileys 10th birthday is a week away so I want to do a special birthday decoration set up for when he comes home - I think double digits is a big birthday so trying to make it extra memorable 💫♥️💫

HAha it always makes me a little nervous - and I usually just grab thong from the edges!!! It’s super strong and holds a massive king latex mattress so I know its just my silly claustrophobic imagination running wild 😝 fingers crossed my phone is always nearby to ask Siri to call for help 😂 ☎️

I spent most of the afternoon on Sunday 02 January packing up the Christmas deco and the tree. Although I love to decorate for the holidays, as soon as the new year starts I like to pack it away and I always enjoy how refreshed and clean it feels when it’s gone.

When you took out the storage bags from under the bed at the start I was like surely she'll bring out the vacuum in a minute. Next minute the vacuum comes out 😂

Wow your under bed storage can hold so much! So many mirrors close to each other. Have you thought of putting the big one in your bedroom and separate the two wall mirrors?

I did have the big one in my bedroom and I am planning to move it back in there I needed to use it to film some content for a brand video coming up...I do want a mirror in the living room still...the two mirrors in the back are just there to see which shape looks best they aren't both staying there...

I have been trying to convince my younger son to get a gas lift storage bed base. He moved back home with his girlfriend and ALL of their STUFF. They are constantly tidying their space because they don’t have enough storage. I even offered to buy the bed for them…. Their stuff had spilled over into the guest room and my craft room so they were given an ultimatum the other day and 4 big bags of clothes and accessories went to the op shop but I’d still love them to have the storage space under their bed so things are more organised. So hard with adult kids and trying not to push your ideals and opinions onto them. On another note, I guess we had better pack up the Christmas tree and decor tomorrow. Cleaned out our walk in robe last week for the first time in 5 years - halved our clothing and rehomed lots of bits and pieces that had gradually built up in there. Send 2 big boxes to the op shop, one bag for the bin (not suitable to donate or use as rags), one black bin bag full of items to be turned into rags for my husband’s work and about 30 items to be sold online (half bnwt 😔). We are loving downsizing our stuff - such a freeing feeling.

Instead of mothballs, you can use Red cedar (spray or wood). Smells amazing and keeps stuff safe from bugs.

Ive still got my tree up, I'm still enjoying the lights, but the rest of my Christmas decor has been packed up and ready to be put away. The current heat is killing my motivation/energy to get it all done, but slowly I'm getting there! I'm also doing a deep clean as I go, and a good declutter too. I love how you position your lounge so you don't have to look at the kitchen! I have a similar setup for my lounge, although I can't see the kitchen but I can see my sons desk and my dining table, so depending on which is messier is where I like to sit 🤣 Can't wait to watch part 2!

Happy New Year! We don't pack our Christmas tree before 6th of January (Epiphany - last day of Christmas!) when we are finally allowed to eat candies and gingerbread cookies from it (as a remembrance of gifts that Wise Men gave to Infant Jesus this day). It is a Holiday in my country, no work. In many homes Christmas tree stays up to 2th of February. This is also the last day of singing Christmas carols.

I usually keep the CHristmas tree up to almost the end of January but this week my youngest son turns 10 so we are doing some special birthday decorations for him so we had to pack up Christmas early!! Next year I will also make some gingerbread cookies and remember that day!!!

I love it too - and Ikea discontinued the small side sections - so i definitely didn't want to get rid of iy - it's just slightly too narrow now to fit this style tv but it is great for storage inside the drawers and to have some open shelving for display as well....it will be a job and a half switching those around on my own - might need to wait for the boys to come home for some extra lifting power 😅

For the winter stuff that we never need in QLD (unless we are travelling to another state!) why don't you get those vacuum sealed hanging bags? That's what I use for my winter jackets/clothes that I don't wear that often. Also, I'm transferring from having paper receipts etc to storing them on an external hard drive (which also has a backup) so I have less paper to store around the house (and frees up so much room!). It's annoying to get it done for the previous years stuff, but then you get used to doing it once a month or just doing it at the end of the financial year and it makes life so much easier.

It always looks bare once the Christmas decor comes down. I find it takes a few days to adjust to the new clean space. Our Christmas stuff is packed up. We didn’t have a lot. We moved interstate a couple of years ago so I did a big declutter before moving. I bought a little live tree in a pot for our Christmas tree, so it doesn’t take much to put it outside. We put lights up outside for the first time for Christmas and I think I’m going to leave them up - well I might move them to the backyard. They are just a string of warm white fairy lights, so they are so pretty and not just for Christmas.

Happy New Year!! 💕 I think swap the couch and TV around and close the blinds at night 😂 The glass window (that doesn't open) is perfect as another wall to prop your chaise modular against. Plus it seems like that wall is wider to accommodate the extra lounge piece you have. It'd also be nicer to access the balcony with a free walkway in front of the TV instead of the couch 💗🌷

I love a tree that looks very generously filled with baubles and I can understand why it is such a chore to take everything down. I really need a trip to Ikea to get more of those organisers. They are brilliant. I am amazed at how much you can fit under your bed. I am thinking about downsizing to a smaller place and a bed like that would be perfect- actually another one for a spare room would be a bonus!

Happy new year to you all...I usually start taking my Christmas décor down about the 3rd of Jan but this year, I took it all down on the 1st. Honestly, if the house hadn't already been decorated in mid November, it would not have gotten done at all this year. With my (35yr) daughter (in Canada) passing away on Dec 1, I truly did not want to celebrate anything....but, I have 3 grandkids, here in Oz, who love to see Grandma's house all fancied up so, at least I had good memories made on the day...

So glad you explained about the sofa positioning. I was wondering if the other side would be better but you explained it perfectly. May I ask about Freddie? How do you manage with his toileting? Do you just have really regular timetable or do you manage him with indoor toilet for pet? Also is it hard to find an apart,ent that allows dogs! Thanks and happy new year. 😁

I would love to have it on the other side as the wall is slightly longer and you can fit the sofa in more ways, but the outlook is 🤨 so we are going to make do!!! Freddie has a little litter tray set up on the balcony it’s a cat littler tray with reusable pee pads inside better for the bank balance and the environment than plastic lined disposable pads he only uses it occasionally as we go for a morning and evening walk and I take him out with me whenever I go even to just check the mailbox- I sometimes order the fresh patch pet toilet online - it’s a box of turf that sits on the balcony which is handy but $$$$ to replace 💫♥️💫

Happy Mew Year to you too! I’m trying to get motivated to clean up all the Christmas clutter too! But I’m so glad we still have a garage! Everyone needs somewhere to stash the Christmas stuff, out of season clothes etc. In your dining room, the round mirror looks best and I think a large picture on the end wall would help to bring it all together but Rome wasn’t built in a day and it takes time to decorate your new space so don’t rush. Enjoy the rest of the holidays. I can’t wait to see what videos you have lined up for us this year!

I have two extra-large frames I can put up - I was just trying to get a mirror on the back wall as it would reflect the light from the window and it's the darkest spot - I will definitely keep playing around with everything till we get it just right!!! ❤

Yes my tree came down on 1st. I gave up on heaps of Xmas decor few years ago. Even though I have good storage I didn’t want it taking up valuable realestate for 300 + days of the year with seasonal decor, so I only have a tree now. In your dining area I personally would declutter both shelve units with the mirrors keep the dining table and put a big plant in the corner. Totally agree with leaving your TV where it is, lounge looks beautiful now, especially when Freddie is in it 😀

We are living in rentals in our 70.’ and we know we have to move again so I’m always trying to declutter as it will be a smaller place maybe a flat. Loved how motivating this was. I took down my decorations and tree on Sunday - Hubby bought a new TV and I bought a new lounge - which meant a whole rearrangement of our very small farmhouse loungeroom. I will be doing what you did and trying a million variations to get the right one. It did feel very clear and fresh and like you will be doing a big clean today. Might I suggest labelling the top of each box with a number & a general description? When you come to work your way through and review, you could make a more detailed inventory. I have storage beds and use large labelled zip-up bags for everything. I also sprinkle a few drops of lavender oil on the inner bed-base before I close it. Love what you do! ❤️

Happy new year, wishing you and the boys a happy & healthy 2022. We stayed at my parents for a few days and my sister & nephews joined us for NYE. Just back yesterday and then decided to drive to the coast for fish & chips & ice cream. It was 11oC today in uk and was shocked how busy it was 😆 So Xmas tree is still up, plan to take it down after work tomorrow. I hate putting it all away 😩 The mess it creates! Love a fresh start and a deep clean. I was really anxious watching you under that bed 😬 and relieved you put the chair there. Totally agree about your reasons for sofa position. Pantry looks amazing. Thought of you today as we bought pantry organisation. It’s only a small cupboard but I’m thrilled with it. Need a few more containers and labels then it’s finished. Can’t wait for the next video x

I use the cedar wood moth balls. They are fantastic and do not smell awful like traditional moth balls

I got some of those last year as well and use them in the clothes storage under my bed...I just need to get some cedar oil to drop on them as they seem to have lost their smell????

@@TheSundayStylist Aniess, you can use sandpaper on them to bring the smell back. I bought some last year in the shape of a daisy to hang on clothes hangers and the kit came with some sheets of fine grade sandpaper. They smell lovely again after a tickle with that ☺️

I didn't put up/out any Christmas decorations this year. I don't like clutter and am a minimalist by nature and have never overdone the Christmas decor. But, by the time December came round, I was too exhausted to even put them up. I may come across as Ebeneezer Scrooge but I am not.

You are not technically allowed to make any permanent changes - nails hooks screws etc unless you request permission - there is generally a ‘make good’ type clause where you can make changes as long as you return the property into the same condition it was when you leased it - patch and paint any screw holes etc…I just want to make 100% sure of the furniture position before putting things permanently on the walls 💫♥️💫

Big mirror by the window is great! I suggest this to people all the time if they find their apartments dark. I couldn't give up the string lights when I packed away my tree because it looked dark to me. Mine were just a little battery pack style. And I bought more for each storage unit and bookcase 😅 I'll be waiting for part 2 to see how I can be inspired by you again.

The mirrors add so much extra light - there's a huge leaner mirror I have my eye on which would be great for the wall at the end of the dining room - waiting fo a decent sale though as it's $$$ 💸

Lord have mercy…. PUZZLES send me into an anxiety attack !!! In my Dining room I have a half done puzzle that my granddaughters started three years ago and I refuse I refuse to not get this damn puzzle put together so I put a tablecloth over it yes a tablecloth and when I think I might just sit down and do something I get three or four pieces put together and then I covered up so after three years I’ve decided to throw the damn thing away I’m too OCD if I can’t get it done immediately or within a week then I I can’t function on it . Truly love this apartment and is it my imagination or have you secretly been working out and dieting because you are looking truly amazing and your hair is longer my Lord your hair grows fast so what New Year’s resolution did you make???? Mine was to leave the house in the winter because right now it’s 2 below so I have been doing really good feeding the birds getting them an electric water trough so they don’t have to try to chip their way through the ice but it takes me an hour to bundle up for 20 minutes outside and an hour to unbundle so I don’t think this New Year’s resolution is going to last I hate winter and we also got 4-6 inches of snow And wind advisories for white outs, Got to love Illinois my state with Chicago only 2/12 hrs away. Here’s to a new beginning and hopefully 2022 is not as stressful and scary as the past two years although our hospitals are filling up with children now❤️

I do it more for items rubbing against each other and scratching and the clip on flowers have lots of glitter and beads/sequins glued on so it’s to try and keep those in tact so they don’t all come off…I don’t think anything would get the chance to break since it just sits wherever it’s stored (unless you move during the year 🙌
