How to Fix a Cabinet Door that stays open

i was so excited to fix my cabinet that's been bothering me hanging open. I went to adjust it and found it only has the basic hinges with no adjustment screws. I just put some paneling nails in it to keep it closed.....works like a charm now!

This looks lexactly like the type of hinges we have on our old cabinets which are about 20 years old. We have about 3 doors that won't stay closed all the way. I've tried everything to get them to close and just wondering if they were opened too far and sprung the hinge closure ??. I'll try your methods and see if it works

I have a cabinet door that wants to stay open but you can't replace it with just a hinge or tighten the hinges up... The wood is warped at the bottom from water dripage from the kitchen sink. What I need to do is replace my kitchen cabinets. Any idea how to temporarily fix something like that? I can loosen the bottom hinge significantly to get the door to close most of the way. Maybe I can get like an adjustable hinge like you have on that cabinet door and adjust to the warpage if that makes any sense.

I wish I had all of these adjustment screws but my cabinets don't just 2 and they are tight. Door closes and then slowly opens about 4 inches. I'm thinking magnets.

My problem is that the cabinet is an upper one and is not hanging on the wall right. Friends tried fixing it for me but aren't handy souls. The knickknack shelf on the side is coming away from the cabinet and the top shelf in the cupboard collapsed. If you could see the nightmare work the previous owner did in the house!. What solution I can only think of for the door is to find some kind of magnet to attach that I can install to hold the door shut so I don't get a concussion some day. You open the door and it stays open and you run into it suddenly. It is not an expensive cabinet. I am on a fixed income of about $1200 a month, and want to find a fixit that a 76 year old woman who uses a walker to get around can handle and afford.

What do I do when I don't have the 2 extra screws that adjust it 🤔 It's just the 1 screw that holds it on the door. Must be some old ass hinges & the sad part is the landlord just put them in 😂 It's not super bad, the door just stays open a bit & it drives me crazy cuz it's my dishes cabinet.

You can try and use washers to push it inward. Washers on the screw

You could experiment with velcro or magnets. A great way to 'stick' the door to the body using either of these two options. The best part is you will not need to mess around with the structure of your door or the hinges. Just some clever glueing / nailing. Both options are also effective despite being quite thin, so they won't affect the clearance if glued to the right spot. Both options also continue to function even when lightly painted over, which means you can match them to the colour of your door / furniture body.

How old are they? You might be able to make an adjustment depending on the hinge.
