No it doesn't. If it does I couldn't hear anything at all. I guess it depends on the load and I'm only pulling less 150w when on battery mode. I never heard the fan on this UPS even though it sits on the left corner of my table.

Great video, thank you! I recently bought the same ups and I want to try this software but read really bad reviews. What about the new Serial Shutdown vs old Personal Edition? Have you switched to or tried it? Also is that windows 10 or 11? I plan to only use a UPS for router or switch. Does the 15 watt shut off mean for all APC UPS models? Meaning also it will not charge devices at 15watt below?
@sleanzles
@sleanzles Жыл бұрын
This newer model doesn't have that feature anymore. I think they removed it on latest models. But previous models have it but it can be disabled if you happen to buy an old model. I am using this newer model for my Asus router and PC and they work fine.

Seems great, but holly f the smell. I lasted for about 1 hours then I returned it. Think the typical new electronics smell amplified by 50. I had a metallic taste in my mouth and lungs hurt after only 1 hour. I would have kept it for longer to see if the smell goes away, but I was genuinely concerned for my health. I heard similar previous review, but disgarded them as being exagerated (they were not. not at all), and based on what they mentioned, the smell doesn't go away.
@sleanzles
@sleanzles Жыл бұрын
Sorry you have such a bad experience. I never had such a bad experience on the smell of the new UPS... Considering I own several UPS from APC and CyberPower on such small closed ac room. There's that smell of new electronics but it quickly goes away and didn't bother me at all. Your seller probably stored their UPS somewhere too hot or wherever that caused such an issue. It probably toast and roast the batteries during storage to cause such strong smell. Or if your nose is just too sensitive, give it a try leaving the UPS on a open space area for a day or so before using it inside a room or house. See it if it helps.
@GynxXys
@GynxXys Жыл бұрын
@@sleanzles It's not too sensitive, I actually have a deviated septum which causes me to not perceive most low level smells. It's either a defective unit or there's an issue with the chemicals used in this specific model in general.
@GynxXys
@GynxXys Жыл бұрын
@@sleanzles Also, I tested it for a bit, and again, maybe it's a defective unit, but the following happened when performing the following test: 1. Connect the PC and set a 1m shutdown timer, and disconnect the UPS from the power supply 2. Wait for the PC to shut down 3. Reconnect the UPS to the power supply 4. Start the PC Between step 3 and step 4 the UPS still made the buzzing sound, as if it wasn't yet receiving power. When it stopped buzzing it sent a shock wave that shut down my PC. This is 100% a deal breaker. I could just wait for the PSU to "recover" before starting the PC, but that still means that it will send said shockwave while the PC is shut down, which I'm pretty sure doesn't help, it will send the same to devices that I won't shut down, such as rooters, and in case of short (1-2 seconds power outages) the PC won't have enough time to shut down via software, the PSU will enter the same "recovery" state and it will send the the shockwave to the PC even before it gets a chance to shut down via software. Oh, and in 1 out of 3 tests, when the pc shut down, so did the UPS. Completely. And it still had 70% battery. I'm not even sure if the PC got a chance to properly shut down or if the PSU just disconnected it from power.
@sleanzles
@sleanzles Жыл бұрын
@@GynxXys you're describing the events out of star wars movie 😅. Anyway, the buzzing and beeping is normal once it switched to battery mode. That how UPS alerts you that you're already running in battery mode and you should save and shutdown your PC. That's how it is with CyberPower or APC though it can vary per unit how loud it is. You can disable the beeping sounds on the settings. But the buzzing or humming is normal. UPS will shutdown itself if no load on it, it's normal. UPS doesn't drain itself serving power to nothing at all. I think it's all normal, and you might just be exaggerating things cause it's your first time owning a UPS. So long as your UPS provides you power enough to safely shutdown your computer, you should be good. If you're getting 30mins on battery mode, more or less depending on your load then you should be good.

Hi. Is this model still good? Are there any better models out there? I want to ensure my money is used to its best value, so I've searched for information about UPS from many sources. Many sources discuss Output Waveform, and the main thing I remember is that a Pure Sine Wave is better than a Stepped Approximation Sine Wave. This model uses a Stepped Approximation to a sine wave.
@sleanzles
@sleanzles Ай бұрын
It's works as it should be. Ain't pure sinewave and just stepped approximation like you mentioned. But it works perfectly fine on my PC. I was obsessed with finding UPS with pure sinewave before but it comes with the cost. So I just settled on this one. In the end it didn't really matter in my use case. It works fine on PC and routers without issues. So I guess it's just depends on your use case. My only gripe is that their batteries just last a little over a year with frequent brownouts here.

Hi, for 900w ups, which one do you think is better? This apc 1600mi ms or cyberpower ut1500e? Since you already review them all, I wanna get new ups but don't know which one to chose. Thanks
@sleanzles
@sleanzles Жыл бұрын
Considering both failed within 2yrs I find them the same, imo. The reason I have both is because I intended APC for my 24/7 NAS and router. Got the CyberPower for my PC personally since ain't gonna run 24/7 anyway. If budget isn't a concern I suggest get APC. But you can't go wrong with CyberPower either if you're on a limited budget. Warranty and replacement from both wasn't an issue either, at least in my experience.

Hello, a few days ago I bought the same UPS as yours and I'm interested in how to adjust it like you did in the test so that the battery lasts longer and that the UPS does not turn off after 1 hour when its load is about 50w. Then the consumers on the UPS would only be Router TP-Link AX73 and Switch TP-Link TL-SG3428X and the total consumption would be no more than 50W... How can I do it like you without the APC UPS shutting down after 1 hour of operation? Excellent review by the way!
@sleanzles
@sleanzles Жыл бұрын
Afaik this model doesn't have restrictions. If yours only lasts 1hr then either you have a different lower model or the battery on ur unit isn't performing at its peak performance. Or probably you haven't charged it fully yet. I didn't change anything when I tested with the router only. I just charged it fully overnight and plugged it the following day for testing. I suggest trying to charge the ups overnight and test it out the following day.

@@zeljkomirkovic211 Yes the old model like the one I had BX1400UMS has a No Load Shutdown feature if below 15W devices is connected to it, it will shutdown. Worst part it's tricky to disable it on the old model. You have to enter the Program-Mode of the UPS to disable the feature.

Yes it should be recognized and will appear in the Device Manager under Battery. The software is optional but it's best installed so you can monitor the UPS. This UPS under max load will probably just last a minutes or so. Haven't tried maxing it. My computer is just 150-200w at it will last about ~30mins or so. As battery degrades it becomes shorter over time.

I have a gaming laptop it consumes 280w , a ps5 which is like max 350w and monitor 1440p which takes like 60w i was thinking of buying a 1200va apc bvx one first but then i thought it wont be enough. Found this 1600va one but reviews arent good people say it cant take 700w and fails. Please help me in this.
@sleanzles
@sleanzles Жыл бұрын
Those are just peak power but they don't really constantly consume that much power, often on much lower wattage and vary per workload. Also if it cannot handle 900w when it's designed up to 900w then it's a faulty unit. But who does use 800-900w power on a 900w ups anyway. If batteries are in a good condition that will just give you a minute or less to safely turn off your devices. If you're deep in gaming you might not even notice there's a power outage and you are supposed to shut your devices already, next thing you know it's suddenly a second blackout already. If you want longer times running in backup power then I suggest to go for higher tier ups that will give you longer times to shutdown or better buy separate ups for your laptop and ps5 so you get more time to shutdown your devices.
@aman_bhola
@aman_bhola Жыл бұрын
Actually i do have power backup at my place but when these things take too much puch and power gets cut and switches to backup my ps5 turns itself off cause of a bit of delay and i will use my laptop with it too that is why i wanted a 1600va ups so if iam playing a game on ps and rendering on laptop they shouldn't turn off for a second when power switches to backup.
@sleanzles
@sleanzles Жыл бұрын
@@aman_bhola Your laptop shouldn't turnoff itself considering it has it's own battery too at the same time. Your PS5 maybe it does if that's what you're experiencing then you might need a Pure Sinewave UPS rather than simulated one. Try the PRO APC Back-UPS or Online UPS but they're rather more expensive.
