Me and a buddy of mine picked up 2 wrecked CVPIs from APD this past Monday. Alot of these officers don't know how to drive.

@CVPI FANATIC Nice! Are y’all going to fix them up or part them out?

Lol reverting back to the crown vics. Maybe you should buy them and fix issues if any and keep using them
@BardonBTx6 жыл бұрын
Was just in Austin Tx today to help my friend pick up a crown vic he bought from them. I see a few explorers in the lot but seen a big of APD driving Explorers still. Explorer isnt the issue its who installs the equipment and not sealing the holes properly. I live in San Antonio and SAPD hasnt had any issues with the explorers they use and they have a lot.

Too bad... As I had guessed, the problem was holes drilled for police add-ons by a third party after market company, were not properly sealed. Too bad the PD tried to blame it on the manufacturer instead of the installer. Either way, they gave Ford undeserved bad press, but Ford still helped solve the problem with other departments as well.
@KB-bh9hp7 жыл бұрын
Robert Pouget Thank you, someone with a fucking brain. Seriously is pissing me off because people are blaming ford because third party installers cut corners.
@pkranz9377 жыл бұрын
Very few police vehicles require much in the way of body modifications. The only holes to be drilled are for antennas and power lead for the light bar. If it was this simple, then the Taurus and Charger would also have a Carbon Monoxide issue, especially the Taurus, since it shares its architecture with the Exploder. The investigation involves thousands of retail vehicles in addition to the police car. The NHTSA could and likely *will* force Ford to recall the cars once they determine the engineering flaw that causes the defect.

P Kranz Absolutely correct. This never happened with the caprice, or the crown vic, or the Tahoe, God the Tahoe was sweet. And it especially doesn't happen with the new Chevy interceptor. Saw a couple Chicago cops getting lunch a while back when an Illinois state policeman pulled in in his nice brand new caprice PPV... The Chicago Boys Went out to check it out and were like "aw maannnn, its THAT fast?, probably handles nice as shit too not being so top heavy." referred to the CPD vehicles as Ford Exploders.. But the plant that makes them is right here in the city, and Rahm probably got massive kickbacks corrupt bastard.

Its not a ford issue never has been, it an installment issue ..all the equipment installed on the vehicles in the rearward and under sections Causes the Exaust gasses to be pulled in Via a vacuum situation from a cracked window or A/C on high on Recirc.. dont believe me take your SUV and click the hatch shut just one click or shut it with something in way then crack a window 1/4 of an inch and go for a ride... you wont make it far....this is a gross exaggeration but if you got just 1 wire not sealed it will make you sick..

DW Red Thank you I swear some police departments are retarded. I know they're in Texas so I should expect them to be a little slow but this is ridiculous. Like if it was a design issues,wouldn't more than like 2,000 cars pit of 1.3 mil have this issue? And those are 2,000 claims, likely they aren't all valid,kinda like how when Toyota had the acceleration and braking issues and suddenyl, thousands of people were having this issue, some genuinely did, but a lot were essentially making false claims in the hopes of being able to sue Toyota, the same thing is happening here. Not to mention,you know how many times I'll be driving in a car and be like, what's that strong gas smell and I look up ahead and see a old car or truck just smoking and once I'm no longer behind them I no longer smell it, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what some of these people complaining smelled.

Why is it that Austin seems to be the only one having this carbon monoxide issue? I have never heard of this happening anywhere else. Could it be the "extra" stuff that is put into their vehicles caused the leaks?

what about the 2020 redesign Ford Explorer that is launching soon hopefully they'll correct the problem for the Next Generation Explorer I doubt another Taurus or Crown Victoria I'll take the streets the next decade
@DD-be8ev6 жыл бұрын
Not a Ford issue it's an installation issue at the local depts. Every dept has a company they use or may have there own technicians install their equipment. These installers bolt stuff on the floor and sides so you have to drill holes and not sealing them properly

Rental cars for officers not on the front lines? Why does a desk clerk need a government vehicle?

From what I've seen APD bought alot of Taurus Interceptor Sedans. I havent heard any issues like this with them.

The only issues are the timing chain driven water pump but it most likely happen at higher mileage. I wonder if APD is going to buy the 2020 Explorer.

Chevy Tahoe, gmc terrain, DODGE DURANGO c'mon these are better to use permanently
@bradenhegemier56957 жыл бұрын
Raman Preciado Not trash talking the tahoe, but a lot of departments don't like them because they are big and slow, and there engines burn a lot more gas than a smaller v8 like the explorer. And the terrains don't come in police packages. But police durango's are badass.
@KB-bh9hp7 жыл бұрын
Braden_Hegemier Plus I'm sure the explorers are more reliable.
@jrftworth6 жыл бұрын
Braden_Hegemier Tahoe's are not slow, if driven by a decent driver, they're faster than a Crown Vic and corner just as well. I know 1st hand cause I drove the Crown Vic from 99-07 and driving the Tahoe now since 2013

@KB-bh9hp7 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Littlejohn You know the Toyota Prius is pretty harmful for the environment because the process used to create the batteries is incredibly damaging to the environment, to the point where you are better off not buying one, not to mention they are very unreliable,literally the most unreliable car of anyone I've ever know was a Toyota Prius, major battery damage after 7 yrs, was a 14k repair bill. She was a 86 yr old woman that babied the car, and served it to a t so it had no excuse for breaking,sold it, bought a focus, no issue. My explorer gets 35 mpgs on the highway on a somewhat regular basis, so pretty solid there. And really, yes cars pollute but you generate more pollution when you manufacturer goods/services which for a number of factors, is far more damaging to the environment ( No shit ) We need to invest more in greener energy production before we push for green tech to become the standard in everything, after all, it's kinda pointless driving a ev if it runs off of electricity generated from a coal plant. There are ways to immensly improve the efficiency of coal plants and phase in more efficient but more expensive energy generating process's but I won't go into detail about those here.

Puff the Magic Dragon The Exploder gets shitty fuel economy, which means much higher exhaust emissions. Leaner is cleaner.
