Hi, I know a little bit of astrology. I don't know if you are a believer but losing a pet, along with all the health issues your family is going through, is indicating something to me. As a basic and general remedy, get a new dog (specifically a black one). If you cannot at the moment, try feeding animals, cats, dogs, cows, birds, anything you see.
