You could afford it if you asked for a penny each time. It wasn't so much the hokey camp that got me turned off the series, it was just the whole low-IQ approach. Dick was portrayed as kind of stupid, and the plots were kind of thin. Even for a comic series. Batman had so much more depth to him (that sadly didn't exist a whole lot in the 1950s through the 1970s).

I don't know what I'd call it, but realistic it is not There is, admittedly, a pretense of realism in Snyder's work but it is a veneer of grittiness more than anything else
