Currently starting from the beginning as I prepare for my finals next week! Honestly I really wish our teacher gave us a week or even half a week to prepare because she's basically only giving us a weekend.

My answer to FRQ 1.1 Both polar bears and orcas eat ringed seals and they could use spatial partitioning to manage when they eat the seal. When the ringed seal is on land, the polar bear can eat the ringed seal, whilst when the ringed seal is under water, the orca can eat the ringed seal.

Bro, you missed Arctic cod 🥲
@nakulvijay2697
@nakulvijay2697 4 ай бұрын
Could this work? Tow organisms competing for a natural resource are orcas and killer whales and their predation of arctic cod. As orcas can be nocturnal, temporal partioning could reduce competition as the orca can hunt at night while polar bear hunts in the day.

If you are looking for a basic summary of the notes and are too lazy to watch the video (bozo): Ecosystem Basics: Individual - One single organism (ex: one individual elk) Population - Group of individuals of the same species (ex: herd of elk) Community - All the living organisms in an area (ex: trees, grass, fungi, and elk all living in a small community) Ecosystem - All living and nonliving things in an area (ex: rocks, grass, soil, water and elk all living in an ecosystem) Biome - Large area with similar climate conditions that determine plant and animal species there (ex: a tropical rainforest) Organism Interactions: Competition - organisms fighting over a resource like food or shelter, limits population size Predation - One organism using another for energy source (ex: hunters, parasites, even herbivores) Mutualism - Relationship that benefits both species (ex: coral reef) Commensalism - Relationship that benefits one organism, and doesn’t impact the other (ex: birds nesting in trees) Predation: Herbivores: eat plants for energy (ex: giraffe eating leaves of a tree) True Predators (Carnivores): kill and eat prey for energy (ex: leopard eating giraffe) Parasite: Uses a host organism for energy, usually living inside the host without killing it (ex: mosquitoes, tapeworms) Parasitoid: Lays eggs inside host organism, then when eggs hatch the larvae eat host for energy (ex: bot fly, parasitic wasps) Symbiosis: Any close and long-term interactions of two organisms from a different species Mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism are all symbiotic relationships. Mutualism - Organisms of two different species living together in a way that benefits both. (ex: Coral provides reef structure for algae, and in return, algae provides sugars for corals to use as energy.) (ex: Lichen is a broad term to describe a composite organism of fungi and algae living together, algae provides sugars and fungi provides nutrients) Competition: Reduces population size bc of fewer resources available, fewer organisms can survive. Resource Partitioning - different species using the same resource in different ways to reduce competition. Temporal Partitioning - Using resources at different times to avoid competition (ex: wolves and coyotes hunting at different times) Spatial Partitioning - using different areas of a shared habitat (ex: different length of roots) Morphological Partitioning - using different resources based on different evolved body features.

Hi, im self-studying for APES this year, and your videos seem very helpful. I was wondering if there's like an answer sheet to the FRQs just so I know my answers are valid or would get me the credit when taking the test.
@kendydelacruz7747
@kendydelacruz7747 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I am planning on taking the exam in may without taking the course at school. I am not really familiar with FRQs and so Im not sure if there's a specific format when answering them and if there's a set standard for how long the answers should be. It would be great if you could grade mine! I just started studying today and so I think I should be done with this unit in a week. By any chance, do you know generally how long teachers spend per unit? I want to assure that I'll be able to get through all the material in time for the study.

@Mr.Smedes

Hi Shaurya, these are very similar to the AP Classroom videos, with the main difference being that I make mine with the intention of introducing all of the information you need to know for the exam, as opposed to the AP Daily videos which are geared toward reviewing information that's already been learned in a classroom. I know several self-study students from last year who earned 4s and 5s using primarily the videos on my channel. If you're interested, I can connect you with some of them so you can ask them more about their approach!
