I think the goal Beyonce & Jay Z wanted was, to show that African art, dance etc. is just as REGAL, BEAUTIFUL (if not more) as the Mona Lisa etc. Traditionally, people always associate "African" With slavery, crime, all negative connotations. We fail to see the BEAUTY, ART that comes from its history. Many don't really appreciate it. I looove this video. Beautiful!! 😍😍👀👀🤴👸

They're juxtaposing that art with Black culture. Not saying one is better, just that our art is lively and vibrant. Our art is beautiful too. Also, that era is gone. We're here. After they made that statement, they turned around to observe the beauty of the art of others. This was a statement of equality.

Black people have amazing culture and tradition and if they really wanted to depict that they shouldve shown what blacks purely did in their arts and design. I have mixed emotions regarding the juxtapose because it seems like its trying to overlap what the whites did so its more of like washing it off and stamping blacks made it. I think they couldve done better without trashing anybody or starting unnecessary controversy.

I think they did this to show that black people can be subjects of art, In the video you would only see white people featured in these famous historical paintings and then it would cut to black People in those same poses, and I think she was trying to do the same thing with the black dancers dancing in front of the painting. Anytime the camera cut to the black people in the video, they were like symbols of art, It goes to show how powerful they are with their form of “art” to be able to shoot a video in a place that glorifies white art and has for centuries. PS, it’s funny because I was just talking to my friends about whether or not Can Beyoncé and jayz be considered American royalty, they do have a lot of power to be considered the average American citizen.
