What a beautiful horse. Well behaved and calm..it appears in this video that he takes his job in stride…..horses are born to run.. I believe he loves to run .. it was close ..those three that ran in the money whole heartily were all wanting to be the winner that day first in the herd of runners. It was exciting.

It is wild how many people are needed as support for one horse owner,trainer,jockey,groomer,groomer assistant,exercise riders,farriers,veterinarians,vet techs ,transporters ,nutritionist and there probably is a person watching barn around the clock.

No one loves Labs more than me but I am surprised they let Kenny’s Lab hang around. At Oaklawn they don’t allow any dogs in the stable area. He’s well behaved and is used to horses not a problem at all.

I picked Capturing Freedom to win, going around Sierra Leone linking horns with Fierceness and Dan 2nd. If I had known Forever Young, I would have dropped Fiercceness. But I was nagged by a feeling that Dan could win because he was the fastest, IF he was now up to distances. Then, Dan drew a post near the rail, and Dan demons were screaming in my ear. I decided to bet two scenarios, one with Sierra winning, of course, and a second with Dan. I had an idea Dan would streak down the rail and steal the race from Sierra. I am old enough to remember when Bill Hardtack and Eddie Arcaro used the rail to do that. Then, the clocker, just before the Derby, said, Dan was hard to control this morning. I have never bet money, I should, but then I'd lose! Coulda, woulda, shoulda bet on Mystik Dan🎲

The hotwalkers are often under appreciated, but should not be. After the groom is finished bathing the horse, it has to be walked around the shed row for either 30 or 45 minutes. Some of the horses are unruly, skittish, or just plain mean. If a horse rears up or wheels, it is the hotwalker’s job maintain control over it. If a horse tries to bolt, the hotwalker has to prevent it from breaking free. Occasionally horses do break free and some of them sustain fatal injuries. Although the job of the hotwalker is simple, it carries huge responsibility.

I find it strange the american way of training, the stables not much daylight, and the track being right on the doorstep, here in UK stables have there own land to train on and then travel for racing.

Sometimes they just do that and nothings really wrong, they definitely sleep with one leg up like that. You can get suspicious though if they start to do it a lot on one leg and can’t seem to stand on all four for very long before lifting the same leg. If they are favouring it, it’s not always serious, might be a simple issue to fix.

I think it is too soon in McPeak's estimation to run him, and Baffert is bringing in 2 very tough fresh horses. I am not convinced he will do the Belmont, either.Have you forgotten Nysos? My bet is he will turn up there and clean SL's clock and everybody elses's.

She’s just shaking the reign to keep him distracted from the bath so that he stays still. She is not pulling on it hard. If he starts moving around a lot it’s a safety risk to himself and others, if he was in any discomfort from it, he’d be acting a lot different.

@savethemonarchs56. Rich Strike ran the KYD in 202.61, nearly 4/5 of a second faster than Mystik Dan. He passed on the Preakness, disappointed in the Belmont and his career fizzled. Mystik Dan won the SWS impressively and Saturday proved he didn't need a sealed, sloppy track to win a big race. On the other hand his ARD was third rate. Six months from now we will know what Mystik Dan really is.

@@LABoyko The Kentucky Derby was not a completely fast surface there was still a miniscule amount of wetness to the track and while I understand that the running of the race was not the fastest. California chrome ran 2:03 :66 in 2014 and Mystik Dan ran 2:03: 34 in this years derby. We all know how California chrome turned out. To label Mystik Dan as the worst derby winner in 20 years. this early is Ludacris. I think the 1 1/4 Belmont or even the travers in the summer would be perfect for him.
