Interesting video! Dropping gear on its front panel is always never a good idea. I just replaced a rotary encoder on a piece of portable test equipment that had the back punched right out. Looks like re-installing the hinge hardware before the pot hardware is a good idea. 😀

Yes it is. I just wish they would have made the hinges not quite so floppy. There are times when a technician needs 3 arms.

I think it should be OK. It shouldn't hurt anything to try it. The legend on the front won't be accurate anymore. Let us know.
