Shortly after my father passed away in 2019 from Cancer I went through his phone looking for pictures and videos and whatnot, and I came across this song on his radio app as the last thing he listened to and broke down. I had shown him Aphex Twin sometime prior and he really liked this song because it was relaxing. Knowing that this song was probably the last song while he listened to makes the song mean so much more to me personally. Whenever I want to remember him I listen to the music him and I enjoyed together and this is the one I always go to.

You know, sometimes I wonder why Richard decided to name this hauntingly beautiful song after today of all days. Maybe something lifechangingly wonderful happened to him on this date, or maybe something crushingly sad. Maybe he just chose it on a whim. Whatever the case, I think I can speak for most Aphex Twin fans when I say I'm grateful for his decision; whether he intended to or not, he's turned this otherwise unremarkable, ordinary day into something special for all of us. The Rythm is a bit tricky but you are young and you'll get it. It is a bit 'mechanical' but still has a beautiful rhythm. If you like this then check out 'Cubicolor, Once Around'.. I can't play the whole thing yet is insanely difficult rythm but amazing modern piano

I just caught this song on Spotify and I was blown away as I immediately noticed that the last part of the song is the beginning to "Blame game" by Kanye West. Turns out Aphex offered to play the music at the correct speed they were going for as they altered it. Then they straight up said it wasn't his. The music industry can be some pricks. It's bizarre how a song can take you back to a specific place a specific spot, a specific time. The hopeful future, the moments where you just forget their ever will be a time beyond now. I feel paralysed in the endless flood of emotions as my mind gazes over the views I once saw, the times I was just casually messing about with friends I no longer know. It makes me want to run back their, even though I will still be looking back at the memories, I want to run back time to just savour the moment once more. I have a great life now, I had a great life then it was just different. I mourn for opportunities I missed and the hours I wasted, where I wish I could just marvel the life that once was.

When I was about 13 I received this album from my older brother when he moved out. I found such comfort for my angst, my confusion, my teenage depression in the playful melancholy journey that this very song carries me through in just two minutes.
