Funny you mention it. I'm actually living at a Zen temple right now. I find "trying"... troublesome. It seems easier to allow my thoughts of existence, and then see where it goes. Anyways, by the time I realize they're there, it's already too late. ;) :)

One step ahead, our thoughts always race. But take a moment. For one split second of time, all time stops in that moment. Like a drifting daydream, or when you take a power nap and that moment lasts for hours within it's timeline. Music like this encouraging us, is a gift.

Vigi: That's a great point. Shortly after I completed college in 1981, I was VERY jealous of people who had computer technology to keep, modify, copy, print, etc. their class notes. But having something like such ambient music as a great background device to make studying less boring would have been just fantastic. I discovered things like whale music a decade or so after I graduated, but even that was kind of structured compared to the stuff stretched out 800% or Aphex Twin SAW 2 at normal speed, for what I think are the most enjoyable tracks.

My mind is just blown by this stuff. I just had no idea this sort of thing existed, much less how different it would be just by changing the tempo (but not the tone) to listen to great music. First, about a week ago, I accidentally run into ambient music like Aphex Twin (like SAW 1 and 2) on KZbin, while listening to normal structured, but old synth music. That was cool enough, and at least I could relate to it, liking Pink Floyd 70's music very much (being a teen back then), and loving minimalist composers like Philip Glass (Koyaanisqatsi sound track, etc), which reminds me of some ambient music at times. But this huge slowdown is just amazing. Many famous compositions, including Mozart, classical, etc. change character completely and (to my tiny brain, anyway) can go from highly structured pieces to functionally just being ambient music with haunting beauty. I'm not religious, but this experience FEELS almost like a spiritiual awakening to me, re the power and the novelty. The closest thing I can think of to this is when I discovered fractals when they became very popular in the mid to latter 80's, with all the fabulous colorful computer generated images of how fast Mandelbrot and Julia sets at various locations and for various equations diverged. I had to go get a book to understand what complex numbers really WERE to try to get a handle on what was going on (yes, I knew about i being the square root of -1, but had no idea what the rules were for doing math on complex numbers). So I'm having the same kind of discovery / intensity experience here, and know nothing of music aside from being forced to take piano lessons for several years, and not being very good at it. This kind of thing seems like the kind of stuff I hoped computers would lead to 40 years ago when the IBM PC came out, instead of more speed, smaller size, fancier graphics, and games that to me are no more fun than the games of 30+ years ago. It's really nice to find something great on the internet for a change, instead of more of the same, seeking lots of clicks or pushing some agenda.
