Richard fluctuated here between an ardent love for late 1970s Germanic electronic mastery (Kraftwerk/CAN/NEU) and Detroit's raw inventiveness that followed a decade or two later.

Some heartfelt moments on here. That has always distinguished RDJ/AFX from other electronic artists, especially from this era. He takes sounds which are often steril on their own, and finds ways to bring out true emotion. Whether it is that of a prankster, or pulling out the feelz; Aphex Twin is for the sensitive ladies and gentlemen.

These tracks are great and what he's doing by taking a vote on what's to be mastered on WATMM is very smart and giving to his fans. I'm sure there is more "challenging" stuff in his attic/basement/bank vault and I would love to hear more ambient stuff over ten minutes. Haven't heard some of these synth sounds since I was a kid watching "In Search Of" or "Dr. Who". Thanks for posting this and the others.

I have a similar approach as you describe, sten!, with listening to his albums. but so, actually, today I was out driving and opened up me CD wallet as usual - Aphex Twin's "Classics" caught my eye this time. after being kind of intentionally ignored. not sure how I felt the last time I listened , but somehow believed that I potentially I wasn't even into it anymore. A good personal RDJ re-ignition today, for sure! Compilation album by him Released 30 January 1995 Genre Acid techno, hardcore techno Length 74:03 Label R&S Records first track is kind of, meh. my main issuous-gripe (hahaha I made a single word salad) with track 1 is simply that it uses this uber classic, - dare I do say generic -Didgeridoo sample vibe used extensively for early and mid 90's Trance of the era the next two tracks are solid what I like call (classic) militant acid techno I'll leave rest to your own curiosity, and so with that, go enjoy the fruck of of it and, my closing suggestion it be Aphex Twin -"Orphan", if you haven't listened to yet or maybe spelled Orphans

My only intention was, same as for you kind and loving people, to share my opinion about it, which was finding it rather different to his previous work and appreciating more the stuff he published en passant. But of course I understand your need to express your own opinion on Syro, as music taste is subjective and there is no such thing as good or bad music. Alright, thanks.

I recently watched an interview with him and he said something that may or may not be true but I'm choosing to believe it. He stated that after years of training he only sleeps 30 minutes a night, he creates his music subconsciously through lucid dreaming. That would explain why he's been my favorite music artist for the last 25 years and why he calls it Braindance, which is my favorite genre of all time. Heliosphan is my #1 fave track. It adds so much meaning to my life and it gives me great purpose to share this with all the planet Aphex children 🌏👽🦋💚
