@@Progenitus It doesn't really matter if it says "Derek" at the end of the video, there's so much distance between him and Aphex Twin fans that it's just weird and inappropriate to refer to him on first name terms like a member of your own family. Indeed, he has been generous over time. For me the title for the album « I Care Because You Do… » said it all: he obviously just wants to be left alone and make music, but is conscious that it is only possible because of his fans. I always thought of it as a kind of secret contract, as if the two parts had signed without even conceiving of it…

Never expected to see an Aphex Twin tardigrade at 9am this morning. Watching this live was an absolute treat, I hope you're doing well Richard and know that we love and appreciate you for everything you do. My condolences for your family and may Lorna and Derek rest in peace.

Man, i was looking up Aphex Twin (who know I know is Richard from the comments) because my friend who passed away unexpectedly absolutely loved him. He'd play this one song on piano by Aphex that kind of reminded me of the dire dire docks or underwater song in Mario slightly. This definitely reminds me of him. Theres something to this music thats like new but nostalgic at the same time. Its an easy medium to think of things too. I pray we all find peace!

Last message... So touching... Lornaderek will hit different now... I really loved the music video, it has a lot of references to fractals like the menger sponge, really love everything about this, from the crazy sync of the visuals and the music to the little space creatures at the end of the video (the Tardigraphex!)... And yeah of course the last minute if the video... Not gonna lie it made me tear up a little bit, mostly thinking how Richard could have feel, I'm sure he loved them a lot and they were proud of his son ^^... I love how very deeply his music is a representative of Richard experiences with his home, his family, friends and landscapes... Its like seeing his life thru his eyes... In the form of music... And thats what makes these experiences endless like a fractal... The fact that they are now captured in the form of music meaning they will last forever... 🥲 Thank you Richard! You are always touching my heart!

I found out about this artist because of William Montgomery on Kill Tony. I love it. You need to do a collab with him. That would probably be the single greatest moment of his life. He talks about Aphex Twin on every one of his stand up sets.

For someone who never knew the names of James' parents, that dedicated to Lorna and Derek just further contextualizes Lornaderek from Drukqs- it's a song named after his parents - that track is definitely a tear jerker- and the transition into QKthr- Aphex has always had a sentimentality around making music either featuring or dedicated to his family- it's so heart warming to know he's been paying musical respects to them for decades

I lost the love of my life Feb 11th this year. My sister passed may 17th. While the person I thought would be there forever and one I thought was stuck with me forever are both obviously significant losses and my parents aren't even a consolation prize, I can't imagine how much you must be impacted by this compounded loss and my heart goes out you and I appreciate sharing that, bc alone that can be hard and I hope you find peace. I've always felt the come to daddy ep was your finnegans Wake and there's a very personal "portrait of a young artist" nature to the entire idea behind it with mum dad the boy and etc the ball. It's a beautiful homage that sort of brings the significance of this track and the loss of both of them that is just overwhelmingly drawing me to express this sentiment and my appreciation for all of it you've shared with me through the world despite the fact I'm well aware that this is more than likely equal parts you would never read this in your read every one of them every time. Thank you Derek and Miss Lorna and thank you Dick.

Goddamn, I don't know why but this has me gushing tears. Even though I wasn't around for the early years, I felt like I was indoctrinated into his cult with Drukqs when I was 13 in 2002... innocent were my ears and mind then! This felt like a sonic and emotional compression of something that can only be described through the depth of this sound, the immaculate transmission of subtleties that impact on levels suggested visually here- which, if you have experienced him live, at least in recent times, you will know a physical component to this that cannot be replicated otherwise, which I feel is a certain kind of love that he extends to those who love him and his music. I wasn't quite sure why I had such an emotional reaction otherwise, then last moment hit and it made sense. No more words needed, just the presence of this sound, reverberating through atoms, ear drums, generations and eras...

To Derek and Lorna, thank you for producing such an amazing and wonderful musician. They clearly imparted a deep understanding of life into you and gave you the support you needed. I respect them as much as I respect you. So I hope all is well, remember, life is just a rollercoaster, it has ups and downs and twists and turns, some people stay and some people get off early, it can seem scary and fun at times, but remember it is just a ride :)

I honestly don't know if Richard understands the deep science on how timbres and scales/chords/notes effect the human mind, but he definitely knows it on some sort of heightened level. It's easy to say that most music does this to some extent, but Richard has distilled it into a potent tincture that I gladly quaff. I do hope he eventually releases one of his caricatures of a "pop song" again one day. Window Licker and Come To Daddy were both masterpieces of him making fun of the trends of the time and I'd love to hear him do it for current ones.

Dear Richard. My deepest condolences. It is extremely hard to have to say goodbye to the people who brought you up in this world. No matter how young or old, it doesn't really matter. When you are a kid you are convinced that your parents are going to live forever. The idea of them dying is just not inside your head. Although you logically construct this idea slowly as you grow older you never really accept it as a part of your reality. This makes it so much harder to say goodbye. I hope you are well and that you are spending time with your family. Family and love is really all that matters in the end of it all. Thank you for a nice track.
