hi mr eric, What types of corrosion found in the heat exchanger shell?
@MrEric_API7 ай бұрын
This corrosion was mainly MIC type corrosion. samples of the corrosion and process debris was taken and tested for the presence of biological colonies, it was VERY high. Mr Eric

That 1” or 1.5” threaded nozzle attachment weld(at the end of this vid) is all but gone. Was it recommended for a repair?

1" with a plug. I recommended replacement of the entire shell assembly....... I believe it was returned to service, with a new bundle.

what is your recommendation??

The vessel runs at 20 psig, in a bank of double-fours. It comes out of service every other year. I recommended to look at it @ the next OOS interval. I don't expect the corrosion to be any different, though time will tell.

what kind of liquid would have been in something like this?
@MrEric_API4 жыл бұрын
Jolly, this exchanger did have versions of oil on both sides. The sides being the tube and then the shell (that's what your seeing in this video) This is used commonly to use a hot liquid that they need to cool to heat up an incoming colder liquid. In this case the hotter liquid is on the shell side, heating up the tubes and the colder liquid in them.
