Great question. An inch subdivision is a mil= 0.001. There are 25.4mm to the inch. This is what is used in the USA and others. Mr Eric

its weird you would think the machine work on making that flange would of cleaned up the impressions unless they just stuck it in straight from the press without machining it

These are corrosion from service. The handling marks and impressions from forming are on the shell. MrEric
