Our Updated Homeschool Room Tour Featuring IKEA

In this video I share an updated homeschool room tour. It's amazing how much has changed in just 6 months. I remember when we first started homeschooling and I said, “I'm not going to be hanging a bunch of stuff on my office walls,” and now look at what it's become. I really don't mind though, I love my office and I love sharing it with my girls. I have tried to include shopping links for a lot of the items mentioned but let me know if you have any questions. Maria Rap., for some reason there is no reply button on your comments but my husband did put the floor in. It's a laminate product from Lowe's and unfortunately, we don't have a video of it. We installed it several years ago, before my KZbin channel, and I didn't think to record it. It was fairly easy to install though. It's a simple interlocking system and it is a pretty quick process. This was SO helpful thank you for taking the time to post this! I have a 2nd grader and Pre-K (Or they will be in August) we are moving to a bigger house from a teeny two bedroom apartment and I would absolutely love to set up their new homeschool room in a similar way! I'm planning on purchasing the Horizon's Preschool Curriculum and also the Confessions downloadable Letter of the Week. I also love old school stuff that I grew up with like The Donut Man memory verse and praise CDS, and I want to work on memory work from the Classical Conversations timeline, which is pretty advanced so I'll have to go slow with that.

Robyn House It sounds like you've got everything figured out. I love pretty much anything that Confessions of a Homeschooler does. We loved her Letter of the Week curriculum although it took A LOT of ink to print. :) I've also heard a lot of good things about Horizons and CC. Going into Kindergarten, I think we're going to add Math U See and maybe Hooked on Phonics.

Thanks so much! It's funny that you watched this video because I literally just filmed my updated homeschool room tour and organization video yesterday. It will be coming up on my channel this month. I'm so glad that my videos have helped you on your homeschooling journey. I know when I first started, and even still, KZbin videos are one of the primary ways that I do homeschool research. As for devotionals, my girls are still continuing to use "God and Me Devotions for Girls." They have quite a few age ranges so that series can be used for quite some time. I would also highly recommend "Brave Girls Bible Stories" and anything from The Secret Keeper Girl and Faithgirlz collections. I hope that helps! You have a younger student to homeschool, right? My 1st grade curriculum choices video will be going up next Wednesday.

Amy Bell Hi. My youngest just turned 5 and my oldest just turned 11. Ikea really is the way to go with inexpensive desks and shelving. Like I mentioned in the video, my office desk is a custom-made, several thousand dollar piece, and I like their Ikea ones just as well for WAY less money. Thanks for watching!

ok, i just want to say that i LOVE this room!! i'm totally going to be stealing your setup! :) can i ask you, what color is your paint? it looks so calming!! this coming up school yr will be my first time homeschooling. i'm only going to start off with my 2 younger kids (will be 1st grader and 3rd grader), and i won't add in the twins until the following yr when they are in the 6th grade. sadly to say, i need a slow beginning yr before i tackle all 4 kids LOL. i'm very nervous and excited.

Janete Lawson Thank you! It is Sherwin Williams Matte Duration paint that was color matched to a Porter Paint swatch called Cape Blue. I love this color too because it's different without being too bold. You're brave to be planning to homeschool all 4 at once. If you don't already, I would recommend checking out Afarmhousefull here on KZbin. She has 6 kids that I think she's homeschooling all at once and she offers some tips and tricks she uses for homeschooling them all. I would recommend finding a core curriculum (for science, history, Bible, etc) that can be adjusted for different learning levels and then working one-on-one with specialized subjects like math and reading. It is very scary when you begin homeschooling but I'm sure you'll be able to figure out a plan that works for you and your family. Good luck! Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much! I'm going to go look for that paint! Lol. I agree about doing all 4 kids, that's why I decided to start off with just 2, phew! I actually have seen a lot of afarmhousefull's videos, and they have been very helpful :) I decided and have already purchased a sonlight curriculum, where they will be sharing a core curriculum and doing separate math and reading. The twins will be on a separate core once they homeschool. So I'll only have to have 2 cores instead of 3. I'll see how that goes, if it doesn't work out, I'll look for something where I can have all 4 doing one core. Thank you! I love your videos, they are so helpful :)

I can't remember the model but it's a Scotch laminator that I got fairly cheaply on Amazon. I would recommend a simple, cheaper one if you're not planning on doing a lot of laminating but you might want to get a nicer, faster one if you do.
