I can't stop comparing bone-mashing with retrophrenology. In Men at Arms, Terry Pratchett explains this: "Phrenology, as everyone knows, is a way of reading someone's character, aptitude and abilities by examining the bumps and hollows on their head. Therefore - according to the kind of logical thinking that characterizes the Ankh-Morpork mind - it should be possible to mould someone's character by giving them carefully graded bumps in all the right places. You can go into a shop and order an artistic temperament with a tendency to introspection and a side order of hysteria. What you actually get is hit on the head with a selection of different size mallets, but it creates employment and keeps the money in circulation, and that's the main thing."

I see where the bone smashing idea is coming from, but it's complete bs based on scientific fact. Let me explain: The idea sounds like it comes from the practice of body conditioning. Basically, you or someone else hits your body repeatedly for a certain amount of time. This causes the muscles in the body to react, heal, and adapt. It does nothing for your bones. Anyone in a sport or occupation that involves fighting does this. And yes, it works. I know this through experience. The face smashing crap in the video will not do shit for your face except show how dumb you look.

With each video of Sseth I'm less and less convinced he isn't Polish. Like, never owning slaves? That's like one of the main moral superiority points of Poland - slavery was never legal in independent Poland.
@ScorpionViper10012 жыл бұрын
"And technically, what we had would be referred to as 'serfs.'"
@marclebret5590 Жыл бұрын
While i do like Poland, it's less morale superiority and more, never had the use/opportunity, combined with, like most country, using serfs, which is unpayed work AKA slavery.
@TheAngryXenite10 ай бұрын
@marclebret5I590 I mean, it's not "unpaid." Serfs had a right to so much of what they grew as payment for their labor, which they could sell or consume. The issue with serfdom is that, like the feudal system in general, they don't own any of the land they work, they have no prospects for advancement barring an extreme stroke of luck, and unlike other peasants, they can't really pack up and leave for better lands if things aren't working out where they are. They were not free in the same sense as peasants could be, but they weren't property either. The land could be transferred around, but landholders couldn't trade serfs around... usually. Like any discussion about feudalism it depends where you're talking about. Russian serfdom, for example, was so close to slavery that it isn't really all that worthwhile to make a distinction.
