As someone with a lot of experience on engineer, I can assure you, with 100% certainty, that the sentry does not contain the soul of a small orphan child. The dispenser does, but that’s a completely different subject.

2 things I've learned while playing Engi: 1) always check for spies. ALWAYS! and 2) don't be afraid to leave your sentry alone so you can shotgun foes in the face. Trust me: you can really turn the tides if you're smart and guns ready.

Cramming your ass in a corner with the dispenser behind you and sentry in front of you is actually so bad. Because where do you run? How does your team access the dispenser? What if there's an ubered pyro coming? What if it was me? What if I turned that turtle into soup?

@@hoarsebard I'd airblast you across the map, leaving nothing but the medic to deal with for the engi and sentry. Even if I die I'll respawn and take the teleporter back by the time the spy that thinks I forgot about him thinks he's in the clear to sap the sentry and backstab the engi.

When you're actually doing well as an engineer, the whole team starts taking you for granted :P So when your sentry finally goes down, the whole team's defense crumbles as thought it was all on your shoulders :D "Engineer is credit to team" - Heavy weapons guy.

5:22 When my sentry goes down, I instantly drop a new one and get it up as quick as possible, preferably where the enemy doesn't see. Because the enemy isn't expecting a new sentry that soon, they'll walk right into it. It'll only be a lvl 1 sentry though, so you gotta charge them and make yourself the main threat so they don't even notice the new sentry is chipping away at their health before its too late.

if anyone is wondering. Scout's scattergun and the stock shotgun are basically the same thing. The difference is in the ramp-up stat (yeah yeah, the reload is slower too, but it's literally class specific by how much). Ramp-up is bonus damage dealt when close to enemies, basically the inverse of damage fall-off. Stock shotgun has less of an increase than the scattergun, so close range it just deals less damage. But, in close combat scenarios, the 15 damage difference isn't that much if you're an engineer dealing with enemies close by and a solid 60 by default? A shotgun is a shotgun and does what a shotgun does.

2:27 "Engineer is a powerful class but I don't play him because he's depressing to play and the learning cap is high" Honestly, I played Engineer when I had 0 hours in the game, literally just starting out. I watched Uncle Dane's videos before even having a PC and once I got one I immediately got TF2. You would not believe how good an engineer I was. Once you get the learning down, he's not that difficult to play, however you have to be willing to work with others, make the right choices, and be versatile. Other than that, you're pretty much free to be as OP as you like. Just watch out for Soldiers and Demomen, and feel free to practice your shotgun aim while your sentry actually gets you kills. 6:52 It's always nice to have someone stick nearby the Engineer. Flankers, spies, snipers, etc, like almost anything can catch an Engineer off guard and wreck him. Give him some backup, stand nearby, like that sniper for example: If he left the High Ground, he could stay near the STAIRS BACK UP. From there, he could snipe, get out if he's getting attacked, and help protect the engineer. 12:54 He's right though. There are very few playstyles that Engineer can't copy. Sneaking around as Spy? Ninjaneering. Healing? Dispenser. Support? Teleporters and Dispensers. Direct combat? Battle engineer and what I like to call "Balanced Engineer" Which is a balance between Offensive and Defensive engineer. Defense? Sentry. Capping the point? BRING ALL OF YOUR TEAM THROUGH A TELE. Burning people? Not happening oof, but you can bring a Pyro through and attract the rare Pybro Ubercharge? Medic can charge uber in spawn and use the teleporter to get through. Etc, etc.

People leaving the point to play 1v1 in a "team" "game" indeed hurts the soul. Reminds me when I'm playing Zenyatta and the entire team is camping the enemy's spawn or going after a singular entity while I'm all alone defending the payload against four big guys.
