My favorite old joke about this is still that Randy _says_ he made that story up... but just tells people that so the cops or "Morgan" don't come looking for him.

My favorite thing about Randy is that you forget he is a puppet, you just get so into the stories, the motions, the artistry, HE IS A PUPPET but I BELIEVE EVERY FUCKING WORD HE SAYS.
@dj11o9er2 ай бұрын
That's the thing with comedians with puppets. They do it so well it makes the puppets feel like actual people. Like Jeff Dunham. You're not there just for Jeff, you're there for Jeff and Walter, or Jeff and Peanut, or any of the OTHERS he had Puppet comedians are just so immersive with it

That's the sign of a master puppeteer. Look at the Muppets, we totally accept them as people, as actors, not just as characters. You can even see the guy doing the puppeteering and still default to focus on the puppet. It's a remarkable artform.

Apparently Randy has said in interviews since this that the story is actually real, he just said he made it up to avoid the Wrath of Morgan :D Who knows for sure, probably only Randy and Morgan.
@fahrenheit21012 ай бұрын
I don't think Randy has said this, my justification being that I've seen many people claim the latter bit, but not a single one of them sourced an interview. If this were true, I think everyone would know and point to interviews as evidence. My second justification is that Randy saying that utterly defeats the purpose of having lied in the first place.
@Dr_KAPАй бұрын
Did anyone notice the parallels between the story and the one he told just previous to this about Hemingway? You need to watch the whole show to realise this is made up. The Hemingway story is true and yes there is a chandelier that falls and a bleeding face - in that story. So he’s taken ideas from it for the bookshelf one!

The 13 million view success of this specific clip (uploaded by some guy with a bunch of numbers for a username) was eventually the impetus for Randy setting aside his disdain for social media, and creating youtube and tiktok accounts for himself, if not just to put to bed just how many clips of his shows were being posted by random people. He's even uploaded entire specials of his onto KZbin. Man's hilarious. Scathing and tongue-in-cheek commentary on the nature of things both absurd and mundane, all while expressing more emotion than some 'less gimmicky' comedians, as a floppy felt hand-puppet. It's definitely interesting to see him get a random popularity spike, again.

Randy is such a treasure. He knows how to be explosively funny and crass in the right ways, yet he’s also surprisingly down to earth in certain moments where he just lets loose and talks about being human, the latter of which isn’t necessarily funny per se, but I do like his insights he brings to just the simple act of everyday existence. Also for context for the old lady joke he made in this…he was talking about Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird, earlier in the special. Basically, said book was personally considered her magnum opus and she vowed to never write or release another book again after its success. However, there was a “lawyer” who was insistent on a book of hers, Go Set a Watchmen, being published even though Lee said she wasn’t proud of the draft, so when Lee died, the “Lawyer” said the author was happy to share said novel with the world. Randy said one way of looking at it, since Lee suffered from dementia in her last years, was the “lawyer” was looking to get rich by, um, fist funking a dementia patient.

There are a couple references in this clip, to earlier stories in the show. The show was outstanding!!! Among my favorite stand-up of all-time. ... and i grew up in the era of Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Robin Williams... and Eddie Murphy (delirious is still my favorite stand-up. Face hurting comedy). Feltface has a long history, with a LOT of great content. Him and Sammy J harmonize perfectly, and sing quite well, in their series in Australia. I am not a, "show tune" fan... but their songs are quite good. "Soon you'll be dead" has my brain humming the pleasant aftertones. Please, watch the WHOLE show. "The life and times of Ernest Miller Hemmingway, in 2 1/2 minuets... GO!!!" Is worth clipping for a reaction. Actually... there are a few segments worth clipping from a full-video reaction. Drunk driving is hilarious!!! I like that clip the most. As you watch the show, you get lost in the fact that it is a puppet. It is SO well done, that your brain defaults to various cartoons, and the expertly-done, fluid movements... just get lost, in the details. Because... admit it... how many emotional states did you detect... seamlessly... from a thing that has two positions... mouth open... mouth closed. Yet, you identified with each expressed emotion... accurately, and appropriately... from a puppet. Sorry for the rant, but the details make artists like this REALLY stand out.
