Everyone is different, but I find little use for my big knives. A saw, an axe, and a Mora are pretty much all that I need. Big knives are FUN though.

A compact demolition tool that's shaving sharp. Gotta love it.

The BK2 is a unique knife in its category, a real tank, really worth it, I bought another one just like it to leave it as it came from the factory and I modified the one I had to my liking. It is advisable to give it a patina to avoid oxidation. Excellent purchase. Best regards.

BK2 always been an outdoor beast. Been an outdoorsman for years, it still beats me why batoning with a knife if you carry an axe or a hatchet!!! ( never enter the woods without a small axe). This whole batoning BS thing is all over KZbin and it's gotten old!. Have a blessed day.

I agree 100 percent on the small hatchet. Mine is always on my belt. Just nice to know that in a worse case scenario, there are knives that can do this.

Good job removing the coating and putting a 90-degree spine on the knife Dan. I agree, EVERY bushcrafting and survival knife should have those features to enhance their usage. And yes, I too carry and recommend having multiple cutting tools: smaller blades (3-4"), heavier/longer knives (5-6"), and a folding saw and/or hatchet (axes are appropriate for tree felling and heavier chores). A good multi-tool like a Leatherman is a proven tool as well.

Thank you! Agree on the leatherman too. Mine is in my pack so it's close at hand.

Nice demo & discussion! Another contender for about the same money is the Terava Skrama 200. Although it's thinner at .17 in in 80CrV tool steel, it's hardened to about 59/52 rockwell inside/ outside, so it's pretty tough. Most of the seax-style blade has a 34 degree bevel, with the 2 in nearest the handle ground to 25 degrees for carving. The rubber handle ain't as good looking as yours, but it has a very similar palm swell to make the 14.5 ozs run like a light saber through modestly sized limbs!

You need to give a look at the Puma White Hunter. I carried that through two tours in Viet Nam and still use it today. There's a spot I noticed on that stump that you could easily baton with that knife.

I’ve always liked the Becker KaBars. And I’ve looked at the BK2 for a long time. It’s certainly a capable apocalypse knife. But I have a TOPS Outpost Command. I think it compares well to the BK2. And I just can’t bring myself to get the KaBar. Great video btw. 👍🏼👍🏼

I totally agree with you. I never understood the discussion about a "1 tool option". Why would you only take one? I think its an interesting thought experiment but too many take it seriously. 2 is 1, and 1 is none. 3 is better lol

@@ochocobushcraft1742 Thanks! I have been thinking about getting the BK2 for years now. I have the BK7 and BK10. I love my Beckers but I'm torn between getting the BK2 or the Esee 5 build from the knife connection. I like that the Esee 5 comes with a kydex sheath. Would you recommend one over the other?
@ochocobushcraft1742
@ochocobushcraft1742 Жыл бұрын
@@Meater76 I also have the ESEE 5. My opinion, BK2 is a better chopper, easier to choke up on handle. Esee 5 is a little better at carving. A little easier to work with. So it would depend on which of these was more important for you

You might be able to drive it in vertically from the top and split the chunk off, also gun blue works really well if your looking for a darker patiena but the ol vinegar does just fine lol.

You just could of put the knife straight down hitting the back Pamlo and then ripping it out....and the Esee5 is a better Knife for everything..I have Both knives Esee5..and Bk2....the Esee5 is the Better of the two knives

@ochocobushcraft1742

Not in the woods. In a real scenario of everything going sideways, if I were in an urban environment it would be a first choice, or Esee 5. But never in the woods. I did just finish customizing a Becker BK 9 and in the woods, I am absolutely loving it! Not sure whether I completely prefer it to the Junglas 2. Need more time of using both, especially when fire season is over.

Good nife I have the becker bk2 and bk 7. Can you show how you got the 90-degree spine on your?
@ochocobushcraft1742
@ochocobushcraft1742 11 ай бұрын
I have a friend in another town who has a belt sander. I just hold the spine against it for about 10 seconds with 120 grit paper on his sander. I will try to do a short video sometime, but as he is in another town, it will be awhile before I can.

I have a BK2 and a British MOD in my winter emergency kit. The MOD is ugly, same thickness as the BK2 except it's longer, solid handles, solid tang, smooth finish and it has a scandi grind.
