This is a definition of a FANTASTIC cover. I always say that metal is the true progression of beautiful music of old. If you do not know, this is actually a cover of medieval French composer and bars Guillaume de Machauts’ Je Voivre Liement Circa 1300. Actually, this is kind of “late” period medieval music. Considering it came out in the last period of the era. Regardless, he was one of the few composers that we have any historical records from. Listen to the original and you’ll see what INCREDIBLE job this band did with the cover. This is what Metal is for! A continuation of our ancestors!

Seeing all the fantasy comments and missing the clear and obvious song about a deconstruction and crisis of faith due to God’s seeming indifference to mankind’s fall and the ultimate consequences of ours and his actions. Love this song because it gets to a very central aspect of a lot of Christians deconstruction of faith and tackles it respectfully and from the believers perspective shifting from a tone of hope to despair and torment. No hatred only joy and anguish. Beautiful song. Great choice to contrast it with a French Medieval folk song glorifying God.
@calebgarate25815 ай бұрын
Can u explain further please
@chrisg55004 ай бұрын
Who sees the fall as a mirthful show? I was thinking this song highlights man's interpretation of his own fall, not God's. Some people delight in their own fall. Now when he sings "minding not their fall", that does mean a seemingly indifferent God. Which makes me think this isn't really a Christian song. Most Christians I know would say that God does mind, but that's a theological debate. Love the song though.
@cargo_vroom97294 ай бұрын
@@calebgarate2581 This song explores what is commonly called The Problem of Evil. I believe in some apologist circles it's called theodicy, the contemplation of why a just and loving god who wants the best for everyone would permit wickedness and suffering. Why these would those be things that EXIST in the creation of a god who is omnipotent and omni-benevolent. The general position of someone moving away from their faith is that this proposition is incoherent. Either god isn't good, or the situation is just not as described. It just doesn't make sense.
@cargo_vroom97294 ай бұрын
@@calebgarate2581 Reply 2. also just in terms of visual metaphor, pay attention to the old man God character. He's sitting at his map fiddling around, *rolling dice.* squashing grapes just for fun. The idea here is that the results on earth suggest there is no plan and no care taken. God wiles away an afternoon playing pen and paper sim city while we suffer and die. And for what? What meaning could this possible have? Few people who leave by this route end up actually believing god is literally evil. More often it's just a rejection of the narrative. So whatever is happening it's probably not THAT. That being the basis of all Abrahamic faiths, that this all-father exists and is in control of everything, knows everything, can do anything, and loves everyone.

xXGameFanaticXx Once again, you are showing your ignorance. The Scandinavian people are a Germanic people. Scandinavian and Germanic Pagan religion is connected. The Scandinavian god Odin, is the same as Wotan, Woden, Wodanaz, and any other variation of such you can find. They may not be identical but they're linked closely. Now please, I simply tried to get you to look into it, nothing more.
