They filter out the "too-literal-minded" so that those who have an ability to see through superficialities can see the more spiritual truths they convey. It is that way for the same reason Jesus himself says he speaks in parables; so that people like this may see and yet not see, and hear and yet not hear. One either looks for patterns and consistency, or else one dismisses it as absurd....

You claim this book of Bartholomew is better or more authentic? It is in line with the book of Barnabas which makes false prophecies: 'muhammad the white cloud of mercy', mentioned in the Barnabas gospel is never mentioned in any other gospel of the entire Bible as we know it. Many of the claims of a particular Bartholomew gospel are similar. Another fact remains that the gospel prophecying 'muhammad the white cloud of mercy' was mainly circulated in Egypt, and their traditions found their way to Arabia over the red sea. It was there that a clan of the Quraysh tribe - the Banu Hashim probably took hold of the text(s) and adopted its views. It certainly can't be seen as a coincidence that a man, muhammad by name would later become a unifying warlord, claiming to fulfill prophecies long made, destroying the local God's of the Quraysh and establishing his kingdom, never truly becoming that white cloud promised in that gospel. I find it dangerous to trust noncanonical books for that reason. Let's hope, whatever God there is, that he might save every single person despite religion or deed, but for the sake of mercy alone. Amen.

@cmpresents I see what you're saying, but you have to understand that all Scripture is parabolic in nature, w/ literary elements like similes and metaphors etc. To try to see this or any apocryphal writing as literally true is a mistake. Like the "Wizard of OZ," or "Aesop's Fables," the truth does not lie on the surface and is not "historical" in nature. One has to see it as allegory. It's just that some books of this nature are more 'realistic' and 'accurate,' but ALL are parabolic in nature.

I realized that there are so many, seemingly more than the ones who are getting it that people aren't either ready, or they just don't have the Spirit in them. It's unbelievable to me that people are actually murmuring about the way you read these precious words. They have no comprehension of what they actually have been given. It's like, who is their Father? 😂 It solidifies that my question is legit lol question being, is it time to share far and wide or do you think that at this time we should be just helping our fellow brethren? I have been given so much so quickly reading with the Holy Spirit and I have still much to learn but I have been getting this impression that we aren't really to give certain things out because we're giving also knowledge of where we are right now to the enemy. I know he says that we are to share the gospel, but I also know that it's supposed to be kept secret until a time. I'm not sure which translation you read from; Greek, Slavonic or Latin, but in the reading of 1:32 you say "three", where the extant text says "fifty-three". Afterwards you jump to passage 1:34, all together missing passage 33 , in chapter 1. 1:32 Bartholomew answered and said unto him: Lord, if thirty-thousand souls depart out of the world every day, how many souls out of them are found righteous? The world was even more ungodly in those days when it came to actual believers in Jesus Christ as savior. That's why so many books had to be written to Corinthians and Thessalonians and Galatians, etc. Because those churches cap incorporating ungodly things into them. We don't have as much of a problem today as we have a problem with dividing doctrine but most of the churches today agree on Jesus Christ and savior and repenting and turning from sin. A lot of those churches back in Jesus's day and The disciples day after Jesus's resurrection or incorporating sexual acts into their Church and other abominable things so Paul had to correct them over and over again. We don't have as much problem today here in America as they did back then.

Apocryphile, most people I've heard say John 3:16 is precisely the only key to heaven, but I read it and many other verses, including what Jesus said himself in Matthew. I came to a separate conclusion, the way to heaven is to believe, ask for forgiveness AND THEN walk in righteousness. However, I don't know if I nor anybody can be righteous. 1 Corinthians 4:4 - The apostle Paul here said that as far as he knows, his conscience doesn't bother him presently. Meaning, he couldn't at that moment think of anything that he had done to displease God. But he also said that it's not up to you, or me, or even himself to judge. God is the one that judges. So even though you may not know you have committed a sin against God, doesn't mean you haven't sinned against God. But you also proved a great point, because we must still pray and ask for forgiveness of our sins, even the ones we didn't even know we committed. In that same chapter, sixth verse, he reminds us that we are not to add or take away from the Word of God. He was likely quoting Deuteronomy 4:2. But this non canonical, so called inspired writing is doing just that. It's going beyond the things written by God, or inspired of God. Verses 11-13 reminds us that as Christians, we will be persecuted, but we will have the strength to endure. Verse 16 says that we should imitate him. Why? Because the apostle Paul was a true Christian. He was like Christ. How? Notice the last verse of that chapter. Paul is sending Timothy, the one who wrote, 'all scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting matters straight, for discipling in RIGHTEOUSNESS, so that the man, or woman of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work. He was sending Timothy as a teacher. Christ was a teacher. And we too must be teachers of the Word of God. But you see, Jesus was no hypocrite. He was a perfect man in the flesh. Did he have fleshy desires? Absolutely! But did he carry them out? Most certainly not. In a way that would displease the Father. So through Jesus, God proved to every human that flesh could live up to God's high standards. But obviously it's a practice. It's a discipline. That's why we are disciples. So to sum it up, yes. We can be declared righteous. But the way to do so would include the things you mentioned, plus teaching it to others, the one thing you left out.

Regarding the apostles calling Peter father. Peter is historically seen as chief of the apostles. He also appears alongside James and John and represents the church in a parable. That is why the apostle call him father in this gospel. It's not because this was a Catholic counterfeit.

I really was hungry for an eventual Gospel written by Bartholomew, for the following reasons : - he was the only disciple who, at first sight JESUS was saying >this is an israelite in whom there is no flaws>; and also JESUS told him that he would see GOD's angels going up and down upon THE SON OF MAN. Bartholomew was the first disciple to recognize JESUS as both THE SON OF GOD and THE KING OF ISRAEL>. Surely, a testimony from this man would reflect a different aspect of JESUS' ministry on earth. MARY, the human mother of JESUS, was the most privileged witness for the truth about JESUS. and a Gospel written by her would be the most reliable; albeit it could be revered to the detriment of the other gospels. People like Johann, Suzann, Salome, Mary of Magdala could be interesting sources too. The disciples who failed to record for us a very important teaching of JESUS CHRIST were Cleopas and his friend. Remember, these were the ones JESUS met with while they were on the road to Emmaus. At one point, JESUS spoke to them all the biblical references related to HIM (in the Books of the laws, the Prophets, The Psalms), explaining the meaning of these verses. Cleopas and his fellow did not talk about theses teachings but only their encounter with THE RISEN CHRIST. Each word of GOD and CHRIST is worthy to record and be shared to others. These revealed truth are real God-given treasure for the salvation of our soul.
