Thanks everyone for your warm comments and feedback, appreciate it ! : ) Shall I make a tutorial covering how to land on the Moon with this IVA, in RSS/RO ? Or maybe how to do this particular lunar rendez-vous & docking sequence ? Thx for your feedback : ) Also a mission report I wrote, with descrption on how each important steps is executed, with associated images, and some Nasa diagrams to go along : ) forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/...

There were quite a few astronauts on Apollo that really cheer me with their enthusiasm, Charles Duke is another one if I remember correctly, he had quite some fun on the Lunar Surface and even had a little bit of "Lunar Olympics" (but he tripped and then it was quickly shut down by Mission Control bahah). What's crazy to me is that they aren't MORE giddy, if I were on the moon I'd probably get in trouble cause I wouldn't be able to stop myself from celebrating aloud. I think that shows how incredibly professional and tactful these men were.

Brilliant work in every way! In my space collection there are articles from Soviet newspapers of the first decade of the space age, in particular about flights under the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo program. By the way, despite the space race between the USSR and the USA, all articles are written very respectfully and this applies to all NASA programs. There is one video on my channel just about the Apollo 11 flight and an autograph by Neil Armstrong. With respect and best wishes from Russia.

21:10 Imagine being Neil and Buzz, looking at that moon lander, where it is and where they are, and knowing that you are looking at something that no Human has *ever* looked upon before. Feeling the support of an *huge* organisation, comprising some of the brightest minds in the world, and the two of them being the only ones to actually witness it. We see it as images, videos or simulations. But for them it was real. Imagine actually being there, you and your mate, with the entire world watching invisibly from the celestial body up in the moon's sky. Love this video! Gave me an appeciation for this event that seeing it on video don't quite give.

I honestly never heard the cockpit recordings like this but hearing them for the first time while "sitting" in the capsule was something else entirely hahaha. Right after landing when Huston said "you got a bunch of guys here starting to go blue" it wasn't because of the landing itself, but the fact that Eagle was having some problems: first, the computer kept restarting for no apparent reason. Second: they were really low on fuel. I think they landed with 2% left in the tank. Neil was actually trying to figure out how high up his ship could be where it could free fall and still land safely. Next the dust was a bit unexpected, and everyone had it in the back of their minds that maybe the surface was all dust, and the ship would just fall through.

If you look closely at images of the lander in flight you can see a small piece of stiff wire hanging down from each leg. The idea was if those wires did not crumple on landing then the dust on the surface was a lot deeper than expected. And yes the landing was a nightmare. At one point Neil was flying the lander like a helicopter trying to clear the boulder field they had strayed into

very nice...I should say they likely didn't have any digital LED displays on the spacecraft
@Kurgutt
@Kurgutt Жыл бұрын
Thanks ! Yeah it wasn't LED, but they had numerical display more or less at the same place as you can see the LED ones here. Just a limitation of what props are available in KSP to place in...

The DSKY had an electroluminescent display with digits that look very similar to 7-segment LEDs.

It's incredible achievement for that time, the AGC and DSKY were truly a marvel of engineering, the heart of the spacecraft ! It's funny, since yesterday, I just watched a conference given by David Scott (astronaut on Apollo/gemini), since he was very involved in the development process, as the user, and gives the astronaut's perspective on this amazing hardware / software. A great talk ! there it is : kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIergaiklthne5Y Cheers
