Tim is heroic. Jeff, I know you've been giving slugs away to Patreon supporters, but as one of them, I'd love to see you reload these and keep shooting them in different scenarios. I'm amazed how durable they are. Shoot them until you can't anymore. Agreed that the historical background was excellent. Really would love to see more with these.

TAOFLEDERMAUS As one of the guys who was requesting to see a round like this, I agree with the above. I don't think that it's a coincidence that you had 100% recovery, and I think that the shape is partially responsible for that. I wonder how badly it would deform if you hit an armor plate, or if one was made out of lead and shot into a more flesh-like target.

You might intuit that this type of shape would slam into the atmosphere and heat up more on re-entry than a slimmer shape, but that's wrong. It does not need to be so blunt to slow down to terminal velocity before crashing to Earth either. This was one of the big discoveries during the space programme (blunt body theory). A blunt re-entry vehicle pushes the shock front out further from the re-entry vehicle, putting much smaller heat loads on the heat shield.

I wish KZbin didn't give you lads such a hard time. I come for the guns but stay for the science. They're killing some of my favourite content creators.
@ianmacfarlane12416 жыл бұрын
dude Anderson It's extremely frustrating, because I can see no justification in KZbin's stance whatsoever. I'm not a shooter (I'm from the UK) and the political debate on gun control isn't something I'd like to go into here, but even IF* I believed that KZbin were justified in looking at SOME firearms channels, I don't understand how Taofledermaus could be one of them - the content is often scientific in nature, there's no Gung Ho behaviour, no profanity, the team is made up of decent, mild-mannered (on screen) guys, who behave impeccably, and one of them is a serving police officer, while another is a serving US Marine. *I say "IF" because I only watch a few firearms/shooting channels, so I certainly couldn't pass judgment on many of them, but there's no question that they are getting a raw deal. None of the channels that I watch should cause anyone concern - in addition to Taofledermaus, I watch Forgotten Weapons, InRangeTV, Paul Harrell, C&Rsenal, Honest Outlaw, Thunder Ranch and a couple of other channels which although not firearms channels, do occasionally feature them, such as Wranglerstar, and the Slow-mo Guys. I'd be curious to know if the Slow-mo Guys are demonetised when featuring firearms. As stated, I see no problem with any of these channels - the whole situation is a mess, and reeks of double standards - I'd bet there are non-firearms channels with quite dubious content getting away with all kinds of messed up content. Anyway, I'm rambling, but I'm sure you'll understand my position. Take care.
@dudeanderson24016 жыл бұрын
Ian Macfarlane I completely agree, I'm Canadian and it has nothing to do with gun laws or gun violence. Everything they do is legal here. KZbin's just gone so far in one direction. That's right KZbin. Demonitizing channels that aren't advocating gun violence doesnt solve anything.
@n7565j6 жыл бұрын
Ian, I was in the UK last year and I asked our guide where I could find the local shooting range... He hesitated and said that there were none... and that he actually took offense at the question, and wondered why I had asked. I told him I had many weapons that I enjoyed target shooting with and had heard that there were in fact a few ranges in the UK which he was surprised to hear. We live on 20 acres way back in the woods of western NC which my family and I shoot on regularly :-) He looked at my lovely daughter which piped up that she carries a Ruger 40 cal everywhere she goes, which really shocked him! Not sure how your country demonized firearms so completely, but I fear you will soon wish you had them as your country is being invaded and they never fired a shot... I expected Monty Python and Benny Hill when we arrived and I was quite surprised to find that it took 3 days to find someone who spoke english as a first language... Good luck sir, wishing you and your country the best :-)

Otherwise it's fine. I've read their new rules a dozen times and those are the main ones they care about.
@josephburchanowski46366 жыл бұрын
+Mitchell Lubline You might be new. The mass demonetization of gun channels occurred far before they gave out their "new rules" for gun channels. In addition, the "new rules" aren't relevant in preventing videos from getting demonetized, they are relevant in not getting them removed. If you don't follow the "new rules" your video's get removed and you might lose your channel. Follow the "new rules" and you still are likely to be demonetized.

You should try shooting those the other way around with the pointy side first. When the caplule is falling from the atmosphere it is designed to slow down the capsule using resistance. I observed some drastic accuracy changes with only 0.3 grains shooting a 140grain pill, only 5fps change! You obviously hit the second lot a lot harder than the first. I cant help but think this design is a known thing, am i right in thinking it would have a pretty poor BC so would actually not be very good at any range? Minor point: the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo capsules *did* spin (relatively slowly) during reentry. They were generally non-spinning during the orbital part of the mission, and then tweaked to a specific angle to pick the reentry angle. After reentry was accomplished they would have continued to follow a curved path rather than going where they were initially pointed. So they started the capsule spinning so that it would follow a helix path down through the atmosphere.
